Kirk Douglas, the son of Russian Jewish immigrants, has always been a tough guy and even has been quoted as saying, "I've made a career of playing sons of bitches."

He has been nominated for the Oscar for Best Actor three times, and finally took home an honorary award in 1995.

As far as award winnings go he did take home the Cecil B. deMille Award at the 25th Golden Globe Awards and another Globe for his role in Lust for Life. He also won the AFI Life Achievement Award in 1991.

He is also the father of four sons, Michael Douglas, Eric Douglas, Joel Douglas and Peter Douglas.
