Craig Lucas won the 2004 New York Film Critics Award for best screenplay for The Secret Lives of Dentists; he also received the 2004 Obie Award for best American play for Small Tragedy. His other screenplays include Longtime Companion, Prelude to a Kiss, and Reckless (the last two based on his plays). Lucas's other plays include Missing Persons, God's Heart, Stranger, and Singing Forest. He wrote the book for the musical The Light in the Piazza, which opens in April 2005 at Lincoln Center. He is the recipient of numerous awards.
