One dynamic actress is the voice behind two very popular television characters on the programs SpongeBob SquarePants and The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius. On Nickelodeon's hugely successful TV series and in the feature film SpongeBob SquarePants, Carolyn Lawrence portrays the squirrelly, Texan, botanist, Karate expert - Sandy Cheeks.

Says Lawrence, "I love Sandy, because she can do anything. She is a scientist with a black-belt in Karate. I mean, come on - all that and a squirrel too. She is truly inspiring."

The actress is also the voice of the quick-witted, child genius Cindy Vortex on Nickelodeon's movie-turned-TV-series The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius. "It's a funny thing, because I was never originally intended to portray Cindy. I was actually hired to perform on the scratch track until the producers could find another actress to play the part. So I was uninhibited, to say the least, while performing. I felt as though I had nothing to lose. And they never found that other actress thankfully. Cindy is a blast for me to portray, because she speaks her mind. She's a little rough around the edges, but she means well," states Lawrence of the sarcastic, super-student with a heart of gold.

This past February on The Cartoon Network, Lawrence starred opposite Sean Astin in the animated feature Party Wagon. She portrayed two characters: Ornery Sue and the Wagon Master's Wife. Lawrence additionally lent a starring voiceover performance as Snow Flake in the feature film short Catching Kringle.

Lawrence's unmistakable voice has also been tapped for Toyota, Mattel, 7-Eleven, Kellogg's, H&R Block, and McDonald's commercials. She can currently be heard on the video games Spyro and Burning Rangers and on the soon to be released games Resident Evil 4 and Everquest.

Throughout her entertainment career, Lawrence has managed to transition back and forth from voice-over to on-camera roles. Her on-camera television credits include: A Minute with Stan Hooper; Caroline in the City; 7th Heaven; Wings; Blossom; and Muscle. She has also had roles in the films Little Man Tate with Jodie Foster, Vampires Anonymous, The Great John Rexx, and Don't Speak. Carolyn Lawrence was born in Baltimore, Maryland. Her father worked for the Department of Defense, and her mother was an elementary school teacher. Lawrence knew at an early age that she was destined to entertain; however, she always thought it would be as a dancer. Throughout her childhood, she and her friends performed impromptu musicals in their parents' basements.

Barely out of high school, Lawrence moved to Chicago to dance as a company member of The Gus Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago. As fate would have it, she landed her first voice-over gig as the talking stuffed toy Snoozie, after auditioning at the suggestion of a fellow student. As a struggling young dancer, she was amazed that actors actually made a living as voice-over talent and was immediately hooked.

Just as Lawrence was segueing from dance to acting in Chicago, romance led her to Los Angeles. In California, she would ultimately land the voice-over roles that would change her career forever.

However, away from the sound stages and TV studios, Lawrence classifies herself as a home-fix-it-girl. Whether it's insulating the attic or landscaping the backyard, the dancer /actress / voice-over talent feels right at home. She also enjoys play-time with her two rescue dogs Sprout and Hershel. Additionally, Lawrence regularly volunteers as a member of her neighborhood's leadership program. "I just like making the most of everyday," she says with a winning smile.
