Born in Paris on August 7, 1978, Alexandre Aja has been a passionate movie-fan since he was a boy and grew up on a film set, since his father is director Alexandre Arcady. He wrote and directed his first film in 1997. Over the Rainbow was selected for the Cannes Festival in the short films section.

In 2000, Alexandre directed his first feature, Furia, a futurist movie starring Stanislas Merhar, Marion Cotillard and Wadeck Stanczak. Alexandre also wrote the screenplay based on a short story by Julio Cortazar.

Alexandre Aja has also co-written, with Grégory Levasseur, Break of Dawn, directed by Alexandre Arcady. He is currently directing the remake of the classic horror film The Hills Have Eyes, produced by Wes Craven.
