New International Trailer for 'Dark Shadows'

My hopes for this one are climbing

Dark Shadows international trailer

As down as I was on Dark Shadows when Warner Bros. appeared to be holding back on the marketing I have really started to come around based on the few snippets I've seen. Also, a quote from someone that has seen most of it that was posted at Hollywood Elsewhere gives me even more confidence when he says:

"[It's] funny, but also has full-bodied horror elements. Barnabas [Johnny Depp] does kill people in this [and] there's more of the Burton Sweeney Todd than the trailer implies. This is not Burton's Addams Family, but a successful amalgamation of his comedic and gothic horror styles."

The film hits theaters on May 11 and it's already on the screening schedule here in Seattle so I'm hoping my hunch is correct and this turns out to be a bit of a surprise rather than a let down, which is what I originally expected.

Now, here's that new international trailer I promised straight from the UK.

Steven Spielberg Gets Hitchcockian on Saturday Night Live's 'Laser Cats 7'

Funnier than it really should be

The highlight of last night "Saturday Night Live" was undoubtedly the latest SNL Digital Short "Laser Cats 7" in which Steven Spielberg made a "Hitchcockian" cameo appearance. On top of the silliness of it all damn near every Spielberg film ever was homaged from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, E.T., Jaws, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Jurassic Park and more.

My favorite moment comes when Tyrannosaurus Cat shows up and you can see the hand bumping the table to make the water shake. Not sure why, but that gave me the biggest laugh. Have a watch below.

A pair of new images from the set of The Lone Ranger have arrived, the first one, which you see above (via BAD), features Dr. Gayle Dine'Chacon, Surgeon General of the Navajo Nation, alongside Johnny Depp who is playing Tonto in the Gore Verbinski-directed feature.

Here he looks much different than he did in that first picture we saw from the film where he had a crow on his head, but he still appears to be wearing his Captain Jack Sparrow bandana from the Pirates of the Caribbean films.

French Poster for David Cronenberg's 'Cosmopolis'

And then a riot broke out

Cosmopolis French Poster Robert PattinsonAt first this new French poster for David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis appears to be no different from the previous one, but on closer inspection and other than the blue tint, there is something else going on in this one. What's going on outside the rear window?

Cosmopolis is based on the novel by Don DeLillo and stars Robert Pattinson as newly married billionaire Eric Packer who, over the course of one day, will cheat on his wife, be pursued by a stalker (Paul Giamatti), get attacked by a protester and gradually lose his entire fortune. Co-starring in the pic are Juliette Binoche, Mathieu Amalric, Samantha Morton, Sarah Gadon, Jay Baruchel, Kevin Durand and Emily Hampshire.

The reason we have a French poster for this one is because the film hits French cinemas on May 23 and I fully expect it to play the Cannes as it is still in need of a domestic distributor.

Check out the new poster directly below and if you haven't yet watch the trailer, you can check that out by clicking here and you can check out the previous poster right here.

Johnny Depp Jams with Marilyn Manson for 'Beautiful People' Performance

Not movie news, but cool nonetheless

It's not movie news, but I found it interesting to see Johnny Depp on guitar for Marilyn Manson during a performance of "Beautiful People" at the 2012 Revolver Golden Gods Awards at the Club Nokia. So, yes, if you were wondering, that is Depp on guitar just above and Manson on his knees in front of him.

Depp performed with Manson for "Sweet Dreams" and "Beautiful People", the latter performance you can watch directly below. I don't know… I thought it was pretty cool.

Because any image having to do with The Dark Knight Rises is of interest to fans anticipating its July 20 release it's worth featuring this new "Entertainment Weekly" cover for their 2012 Summer Movie Preview issue as it features Anne Hathaway as Catwoman and Christian Bale as Batman, dressed in full superhero garb.

New TV Spot for 'The Avengers' Brings Thor's Hammer into Focus

I assume we'll get one for each member of the team

Thor Avengers TV SpotI already featured a TV spot placing Captain America (Chris Evans) front and center (see that here) and now with this arrival of an extended, 60-second look at Thor (Chris Hemsworth) from The Avengers I think it's safe to assume several more will be on the way bringing 60-second looks at each member of the team.

So who's left? Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) is likely to get one and The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo).

The Avengers hits theaters on May 4 and continues the big-screen adventures started in Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger, Marvel's The Avengers with what is being referred to as "the super hero team up of a lifetime." When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster.

The film is directed by Joss Whedon and stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Cobie Smulders, Stellan Skarsgard and Tom Hiddleston. For more on the film, plus my gallery of 95 pictures, click here.

Catwoman Promo Art from 'The Dark Knight Rises'

A detailed look at Catwoman's costume

The following piece of promotional art from The Dark Knight Rises features a hi-res look at Anne Hathaway as Catwoman in the film, giving you a detailed look at her costume.

The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters on July 20 and I'm starting to get the feeling the all-out marketing blitz will be getting underway soon enough, once The Avengers hits theaters and before The Amazing Spider-Man dominates the Internet chat sessions.

As for this piece of art, I'd say it is clearly something that will be used for upcoming marketing material and will be layered on top of soon-to-be-released posters and lunchboxes.
