The Casting Couch: April 11, 2006
More of a directorial edition...
I have finally decided that if it isn't casting news that we haven't been clammoring for I am goiing this route and it is going to be called "The Casting Couch". This way it doesn't take forever to write and you get it all in one quick shot.
Today's edition is more of a directorial feature as we learn where David Dobkin and Jay Chandrasekhar are heading next as well as one quick casting story. Here goes…
R.I.P.D. is yet another comicbook adaptation, which follows the story of a murdered cop that was recruited to work in the Rest in Peace Dept., a ghost-busting police force (itself comprised of ghosts) that battles spirits unready to depart this world.
The script will be penned by Jon Zack who is one of the writers on Shrek the Third and previous credits include The Perfect Score and Out Cold.
Our only bit of casting information comes as The Hollywood Reporter tells us that Nathan Phillips (Wolf Creek) and Eddie Griffin are set to star in Redline. The flick is described as an auto thriller to be directed by Andy Cheung.
The film also stars Nadia Bjorlin and will feature a Wyclef Jean cameo who is also scoring the feature. The pic will apparently also feature a shit load of cool cars as real estate investor-turned-producer, Daniel Sadek, will be putting his Phantom, Lamborghini Murcielago, Enzo Ferrari, Ferrari F430, Ferrari Scaglietti and two McLarens, among others, in the movie and will destroy one of his two $200,000 Porsche Carrera GTs in one sequence.
Hmmmmmm, buy a $200,000 car and destroy it. This guy is a genius.
