New 'Captain America 2: Winter Soldier' Teaser Poster

Hey, look, that's a shield

Disney has revealed the following teaser poster for Captain America: The Winter Soldier and I'm sure we'll be getting plenty more little bits of Marvel movie-related items over the coming weeks with Comic Con and Disney's D23 on the horizon.

Of course, this teaser poster doesn't offer much, but Captain's battered shield, but I'm sure most fans are up for just about anything when it comes to this comic book franchise.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier stars Chris Evans in the title role along with Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Cobie Smulders, Samuel L. Jackson, Sebastian Stan, Scarlett Johansson, Toby Jones, Emily VanCamp and Robert Redford and will hit theaters on April 4, 2014.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier Teaser Poster

The second installment will pick-up where the highly anticipated Marvel's The Avengers leaves off, as Steve Rogers continues his affiliation with Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D and struggles to embrace his role in the modern world.

  • Xarnis

Oh goodie, another superhero film sequel! This will be the best film EVAR.

  • Hudsucker

Well, just wanted to say that poster looks pretty good. I actually liked the 1st one, and this might be good.

    • Tony Lee

This is the Marvel film I'm looking forward to the most.

  • jess antiquina

well, maybe because there are too many superhero movie these days. right xarnis? but i personally enjoy them if they are done right..what do you think?

  • G-Man

I'll see it and am pretty sure I'll find it entertaining. Probably won't be too excited for it until a week or two before its release though.

  • jess antiquina

the last captain america movie is okay at best but rather forgettable feature.

  • andyluvsfilms

the first Captain America left me cold, it started off ok as i remember but it didnt have much energy and by the end i was bored, and my God that costume is the worst

    • jess antiquina

yeah.. you are right with the movie. are you referring to captain america's costume? i think it's ok.

      • andyluvsfilms

yeah Cap's costume, i cant quite put my finger on it but it looks like something you'd see in a parody, it kinda looks like a kids costume but in adult size

  • Ryguy815

I thought the first movie was pretty good overall but it did have some problems. I like this poster and I'll probably end up seeing this just because of my love for Marvel films. Screw DC! They do make good movies sometimes (TDKR, Green Lantern) but Marvel makes all of their movies good!

    • Hudsucker

      You.... liked.... Green..... Lantern????

      • Ryguy815

Yeah, for the most part I liked it. Like Captain America, it had it's problems but overall it was pretty good IMO.

    • Flo

Green Lantern was a disaster! Probably one of the worst movies I saw the last few years.

CA was okay though. Not too excited for the 2nd, but I'm surely going to watch it on Blu-Ray on a lazy week-day.

      • Ryguy815

What made you think it was a disaster?

  • Xarnis

I actually like superhero films, but the market is so saturated with them, to the pout where it has become annoying. I'm just voicing my opinion on the fact that (most) superhero films are basically disposable cinema at this point.

  • Xarnis

In all seriousness, I'll end up passing on this one. The Cap movie was mindless entertainment at best. My big beef with superhero films is that there are so many sequels. I'd rather see some new stuff.

    • jess

you are right with the new one but i think whether you like it or not there will always be superhero films..

      • maja

Sure superhero movies may always be around but I think in 5-10years time the number of them will start to decline. There's been such an over saturation of them and the same will happen to them as did to westerns in the 60s and 70s.

        • Xarnis

This whole superhero situation is pretty much the exact same thing that happened with westerns. But many westerns have stood the test of time. I'm not sure superhero films will be able to do that.

        • jess

i guess you are right on that one... soon people will get tired with all the unnecessary superhero films and they will just flop in the box office and studios will eventually learn.. THE AVENGERS 2 would be an exception. yay!

    • andyluvsfilms

or done differently, can you imagine Darren Aronofsky's Batman with Clint Eastwood in the staring role? now that would be the best ev!!!!!

      • Xarnis

Darren Aronofsky's Batman would be worth seeing, but Mr. Eastwood seems a bit old for Bruce Wayne

        • andyluvsfilms

yeah but thats the point, i cant remember if he starts off old or he comes out of retirement but i would love to see it, i can keep dreaming

          • Ryguy815

They could make an adaptation of the Batman Beyond cartoon where he's old and comes out of retirement to train a new Batman (I believe it's his son) to stop The Joker..they would have to change the villain though, I think we've seen enough of The Joker on the big screen. Plus no one could really live up to Heath Ledger.

            • jess

i thinks that's silly but interesting. LOL

      • jess

maybe the title for the movie will be "THE OLD DARK KNIGHT or THE END OF THE DARK KNIGHT or something..

      • Hudsucker

Pretty sure old Clint can't jump from building to building like he used to, but it'd be awesome to see him threaten a guy with a Batarang and say "Do you feel lucky punk? Well do you?!"

        • Ryguy815

If there were a scene like that in a movie, it would be the greatest movie ever made..EVAR

    • Ryguy815

I agree. As much as I love superhero movies, we need new superheroes showing up on the big screen, not all these reboots and sequels to old ones.

  • Jimmy B

Ooh, perhaps this means we'll get a teaser trailer soon enough (maybe in front of The Wolverine?)

  • EPayneDDS

I just hope this film is darker...

    • Ryguy815

Knowing Marvel, I doubt it will be. They've always tended to make really fun, light superhero movies and most of the time it works really well so I can't see them changing that in the foreseeable future.

  • Hudsucker

Guys if you think your protesting right now look at this forum I started. Yes my name is Mack the Knife.

    • andyluvsfilms

oh boy, have you always made friends so easily? ;-)

      • Hudsucker

I never should've discussed why i dislike superhero movies on a site full of nerds.

    • Ryguy815

Wow, people are really arguing over there! However.. I disagree with you that we're getting more average movie than good movies lately. I've quite enjoyed a lot of the films released lately to be honest.

    • The Movie Guru

      Wow. Nice Job.

  • jess

i do think that captain america 2 would benefit from the presence of BLACK WIDOW.. Scarlett is great..

  • Winchester

I found the first one fun, especially the retro feel of it. I actually won't mind checking out the sequel. Not much of a teaser poster though.

  • Matt

I could care less about movie posters for superhero films. I liked the first "Captain America", but I'm just not that interested in a sequel.

    • The Movie Guru

I'm interested in the sequel because it is supposed to be more of a political thriller which is a genre I adore. Plus, I really like the first Cap.

  • rusty

Is there a teaser trailer to the TV spot advertising the teaser to the first 30 Frame clip of the pre-teaser teaser trailer yet? Until then, I'm not playing.

  • GregDinskisk

"I must apologize. I was born with a disfigurement where I appear to have more powers than I actually do. Because of this, you cannot comprehend which ones I actually do have. Please look away. Please go away."

In actuality, I would love to see a Carruth superhero movie, just to see what it would look like.

  • Roger Judd

Wait til they release a teaser trailer. The message boards will crash the servers with thousands of comments.

I find the poster looks awesome lol

  • Adam James

I'm looking forward to this sequel... I think there are interesting places they could take the character, and I'm happy to have some over-the-top spy stuff now that the actual spy genre has shifted to more grounded takes.

  • Corbin

That looks fine. Could use more color, though.

    • Ryguy815

This has quite a bit of color on it..

    • Django

I think the lack of colour is probably symbolising that Captain America is on the edge of defeat or losing his patriotism or something. Or to give the poster a more colder, wintery feel to tie into the film title.

  • Michael

I enjoyed the first one, i'll see it but won't rush to see it like the first one.

  • topyxyz

Liked the first one but was my least favorite among the Phase One films. As always, I make sure my expectations are low, so as not to disappoint myself due to overhyping.

  • jess

this has fewer comments than i remember.

  • Aditya

I wasn't a fan of the first movie and felt it was the weakest of all the Marvel Phase 1 movies. The one thing I did like about it was that they setup the character of Captain America quite well and I grew to like him a lot more after The Avengers.

My excitement level is still not quite up there for this one though...the one I'm really looking forward to is Thor: The Dark World

  • andyluvsfilms

% chance the poster is more entertaining than the film - 60%
