'Candy' Finds Home at WIP

Warner Independent picks up Comedy Central flick.

The Sundance Film Festival is proving its worth as films are being screened studios are snatching up distribution rights as Miramax picked up the Pierce Brosnan starrer, The Matador, just a day ago and now Warner Independent Pictures picks up a pair.

First off is the Comedy Central adaptation, Strangers with Candy, starring Amy Sedaris as she plays an ex-con who returns to high school after 32 years in jail based on the television show from CC.

In other areas of the park Samuel Goldwyn Films and Roadside Attractions acquired domestic rights to the provocative high school comedy Pretty Persuasion, starring Evan Rachel Wood and James Woods, of which I read a quick recap over at JoBlo.com stating that the film would undoubtedly get an NC-17 rating if it were released in its current form.
