Well, it appears Brian De Palma's prequel The Untouchables: Capone Rising might still have a chance as Variety is reporting that Nicolas Cage might not be able to embarrass himself by trying to play the young Al Capone. Apparently talks to have him star in the role that Robert De Niro originated back in 1987 have ended because of scheduling issues, according to his reps. Read that as: Nicolas Cage is a shitty actor and the producers and directors read the stories online that Cage could in no way pull this role off and "his reps" are using traditional lingo to get him out of it. Scheduling problems? Gimme a break, the role is Al Capone, what good actor wouldn't change their schedule to be in a movie with De Palma and play Al Capone?

Gerard Butler is already aboard to play the young Jimmy Malone, which was played in the original by Sean Connery. This isn't a sure thing, but it sounds like Cage is most definitely out.

The Untouchables: Capone Rising is a prequel to the classic 1987 box-office hit The Untouchables, and will concern Capone and the early version of Irish cop Jimmy Malone, who is as crooked as every other Chicago cop until Capone becomes king of the underworld.
