Bynes Puts on 'Hairspray'
Teen tapped for musical.
Amanda Bynes has been added to the cast of New Line Cinema's Hairspray as she is in line to take the role of Penny Pingleton, best friend of the lead Tracy Turnblad character. Studio's been conducting a nationwide search to play Turnblad.
Turnblad is set to be played by John Travolta while Queen Latifah is aboard as Motormouth Maybelle.
Adam Shankman is directing the musical, which is currently eyeing a summer 2007 release.
