Butler in Remake of 'Escape From New York'?
John Carpenter film getting new treatment
Variety is reporting that Gerard Butler my already be reaping the rewards from this weekend's blockbuster hit 300 as his agents, CAA, began shopping Monday for a remake of John Carpenter's 1981 actioner Escape From New York with Butler attached to star.
Word is that several studios are battling for the pic and a deal is expected to be made this week.
Butler would play the role originated by Kurt Russell in the 1981 film, Snake Plissken, the one-eyed convict who's charged with heading into the inescapable maximum security prison formerly known as Manhattan to liberate the U.S. president.
