Burton, Taylor, Cooper, Carter, BBC Four

Could work, but I'm still wary

Burton and Taylor trailer

Watching this trailer for BBC Four's "Burton & Taylor" starring Dominic West and Helena Bonham Carter as Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor, I do and I don't see Taylor in Carter's performance. Carter has such a uniquely expressive face that I can't help but see her and her myriads of kooky characters rather than the person I would otherwise recognize as Taylor.

I'm not sure if this will take me out of the moment while watching "Burton & Taylor" whenever it finds its way stateside, but I can say I am, at the very least, curious to see how the film turns out simply because Cooper and Carter seem like an interesting pairing and the story itself should be intriguing enough for those familiar with those remotely familiar with the beginnings of the Liz & Dick relationship.

The film is directed by Richard Laxton and rather than focusing on the tumultuous introduction of the two during the marking of Cleopatra, the story focuses on their Broadway production of Noel Coward's "Private Lives" some twenty years later.

Check out the trailer below.

It should be better than the "Lifetime-TV" movie featuring Lindsay Lohan as Elisabeth Taylor, anyway.

I'd love to see a mashup of all the times somebody has thrown something against the wall of their dressing room. Would probably rival the length of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Extended Editions. Including The Hobbit. Extended Edition.

I think Helena Bonham Carter is really talented, so I will normally watch anything she is in. I'm willing to check it out.

Doesn't look like she's even trying to be the character.

So this! Omg, I just can't get past her. Taylor was/is such an icon. I don't know. I love Helena, but she does have the tendency to always play the same kind of roles, which makes it harder to believe when she's playing a more serious role, like here.

Who is the mysterious "Cooper" from the headline? Another Dominic perhaps. ;-)
