Podcast LogoWe're getting closer to that desired 30 minute mark as this week's episode goes just over 34 minutes as we briskly discuss several topics from this week beginning with a short tease from my interview with Martha Marcy May Marlene director Sean Durkin and move into discussion of the changes being made to the upcoming Star Wars Blu-rays, Disney's new "All Access" home entertainment option and the recently released trailer for The Hunger Games.

From that trailer discussion we move into Drive, which Laremy finally saw earlier this week and I saw for a second time, and Laremy is finally able to join me in chastising the trailers for the film, which really do spoil several important plot elements. We also discuss the fact Apollo 18 and Shark Night 3D were not screened for critics and then quickly discuss A Good Old Fashioned Orgy, which we both enjoyed.

Finally, next week Laremy and I will both be heading to Toronto for the Toronto International Film Festival so there may or may not be a podcast next Friday depending on our schedules. I am leaning more toward no, there won't be, but there is a slight chance we can make it work.

I have posted on the Star Wars topic already but I would say it is probably done. I love Star Wars, I'm 23 and I think your right, anyone under 30 now couldn't care less for Star Wars. I grew up in a house where my dad watched Sci-fi all the time. So I have seen all the Star Wars all the original Star Trek movies, all the original Planet of the Apes films and I can say with confidence none of my peers have seen anymore than maybe one or two of the Star Wars films. I will show my kids these movies, noone else my age will.

    Still frantically avoiding Drive trailers.

In defense of The Hunger Games trailer, I'm wondering if perhaps there really just isn't that much completed footage that they were comfortable sharing in the teaser. And, after all, it was a teaser, designed mostly to raise hype about the movie in the teen crowd that would ostensibly be watching the VMAs. I'm not going to say it's particularly impressive, but I'm not sure what exactly people were expecting either.
