Box-Office Wrap-Up: Nov. 24 – Nov. 26
Those penguins have Bond's number don't they?
Note: My projections were not based on these numbers but I am using them anyway because they are closer. Just thought you should know.
#1 movie predicted correctly: Zero Weeks In A Row
1. Happy Feet
Yeah Penguin, you got me again. I should probably see this as B-Love tells me it's an animated Oscar contender.
Result: $37.9 million (My rank: #2, $5.7m off)
This is one of the few movies I like the opening credits on. Can you see this on a poster? See it for the opening credits!
Result: $31.0 million (My rank: #1, $4.7m off)
3. Deja Vu
Still, Denzel got beat by two films that were already out two weeks. I don't call that a win.
Result: $20.8 million (My rank: #3, $4.3m off)
This will get murdered in week two. Everyone knows it, even people who don't watch movies.
Result: $12.0 million (My rank: #5, $2.1m off)
5. Borat
Here's another Oscar buzzer, Sacha for best actor. Can you believe it? I don't think so either.
Result: $10.4 million (My rank: #6, $3.3m off)
Wow, this is a great result for a film that should have crashed a few weeks ago. Looks like the Christmas spirit is alive and well.
Result: $10.0 million (My rank: #9, $2.7m off)
Well, I had the dollars right but some saggage out of Tenacious D and Bobby slayed me.
Result: $6.0 million (My rank: #10, $.2m off)
8. Flushed Away
Ooooh, a kid's film rocks my world. Holiday weekend, no school, clearly my game was weak.
Result: $5.8 million (Not Ranked)
9. Bobby
I wanted it to have a good result but it didn't. I wanted a PS3 but I didn't get that either. The lesson here: I don't get what I want.
Result: $4.9 million (My rank: #7, $5.6m off)
10. The Fountain
I had a much stronger bottom half on my projections. Anyway, a poor result for this "smart" movie which means we're headed for more "dumb" ones.
Result: $3.7 million (My rank: #8, $5.0m off)
