There is some chance Casino Royale will end up winning to bail me out but at this point the cutest penguins are in the lead.
#1 movie predicted correctly: Zero Weeks In A Row
Happy Feet was down after Friday night but the the parents rolled in, exhausted from Christmas vacation, willing to pay anything to deposit children somewhere. Hell, some of them probably made little Johnny go twice.
Result: $42.3 million (My rank: #2, $7.7m off)
Well, at least I was correct in that it would take a number in the $42m range to win. And how about $82.9m in the top two slots? It was the biggest overall weekend since the beginning of August.
Result: $40.6 million (My rank: #1, $2.2m off)
Production budget = $18m. Total gross: $90.5m. Chances of a sequel = infinity.
Result: $14.3 million (My rank: #3, $3.6m off)
I nailed this one. SC3 doesn't have a budget listed, but I imagine it had to be somewhat hefty, and the $51m total gross thusfar may mean we've reached the end of the Santa Clause world.
Result: $8.2 million (My rank: #4, $.4m off)
This was like stealing it was so easy to predict. It's one of the great cinematic mysteries why this opened in such a strong kid movie market when a February opening would have been massive. Patience studios, patience.
Result: $6.8 million (My rank: #5, $.3m off)
A little off on the dollars because I took the $6.6 at the #6 slot. Hey, with Tenacious D opening this week I figured I'd take a shot.
Result: $6.6 million (My rank: #6, $.4m off)
It's good that even though I hate this I was able to get a good read on it. That's Oracle maturity.
Result: $2.9 million (My rank: #7, $.1m off)
This was a bit of a surprise showing for Saw III. Good on them (That's Australian for "good job").
Result: $2.8 million (My rank: #9, $.8m off)
Ah, I see, I had this one pegged but more people were interested in gore than stars. Probably all those tired parents as their kids watched Happy Feet.
Result: $2.6 million (My rank: #8, $.1m off)
I didn't have it ranked in the slightest because I simply had no idea. It opened in less than 500 theaters. My bad though, the horror fans clearly gave it a little bit of love.
Result: $2.4 million (My rank: Not Ranked)
