Box-Office Wrap-Up: Mar. 7 – Mar. 9, 2008
A switch at 3 and 4 would have made it 10 for 10
Well, a small glitch in Laremy's picks at #3 and #4 prevented him from hitting all ten spots. I am not sure if he has ever hit all ten spots, but he came pretty damned close this time around. As you may have assumed Laremy is out today so I will quickly give you the wrap-up.
#1 movie predicted correctly: SIX Weeks In A Row
1. 10,000 B.C.
Considering it has an 8% rating at RottenTomatoes it is no surprise this flick raked in about $6 million less than most predicted. Luckily Laremy knows best and ended up only $2.4 million off.
Result: 35.7 million (My rank: #1, $2.4m off)
It amazes me parents would even consider taking their kids to a movie that looks this tragically bad.
Result: 14.0 million (My rank: #2, $1m off)
A twist film has never been so painfully obvious and yet it is still in the top five. Who watches this movie and then recommends it to their friends?
Result: 7.5 million (My rank: #4, $.7m off)
4. Semi-Pro
What will Will Ferrell do if people continue to stop supporting him as he plays ridiculous sports characters?
Result: 5.8 million (My rank: #3, $1.7m off)
5. The Bank Job
A decent heist film, much better than I assumed it will be. Hopefully Lionsgate will push it out to more theaters.
Result: 5.7 million (My rank: #5, $0.1m off)
Skipped it, no opinion, but it has already been announced on DVD.
Result: 4.8 million (My rank: #6, $0.1m off)
Unfortunately this film wasn't able to live up to its subject matter. You can't have a PG-13 lust and sex-filled film without the lust and sex.
Result: 4.0 million (My rank: #7, $0.1m off)
8. Jumper
Has anyone been able to answer my 10 questions?
Result: 3.8 million (My rank: #8, $0.1m off)
I am still trying to figure out why this film looks like it won't live up to its predecessor.
Result: 3.0 million (My rank: #9, $0.1m off)
10. Fool's Gold
Word has it Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson are next teaming up in an original idea in which there is a misunderstanding, a break up and a subsequent love filled reunion.
Result: 2.8 million (My rank: #10, $0.2m off)
