Whoa. Wanted did very well, especially given how rated R it was. I suppose the theory that people would see both (WALL•E included) was the one I should have gone with. Ah well. At least I got most of the order right.
#1 movie predicted correctly: 10 Week In A Row
It didn't do as well as expected, but word of mouth will help I think. Unless *gasp* this is a critic style film only. Yikes. Don't say that too loud.
Result: 62.5 million (My rank: #1, $5.8m off)
It shocks me that B-Luv is now bad mouthing this. I saw it again on Saturday night and still dug it. I also caught some nice foreshadowing, the team clearly knew what they were doing here.
Result: 51.1 million (My rank: #2, $17.6m off)
Pretty nice call. It benefited because no one really thinks of WALL•E as a comedy. PIXAR is like its own genre at this point.
Result: 20.0 million (My rank: #3, $1.2m off)
Another strong pick. Talked to a few people who weren't wowed by this. I gave 'em a list of films to see leading up to seeing it that would truly make them hurt. That's the problem, no one sees the four months of films that make you pray for anything decent.
Result: 11.7 million (My rank: #4, $1.6m off)
Can you say five for five? I think you can. Unless you're a mute or a Belgian monk.
Result: 9.2 million (My rank: #5, $0.9m off)
Let's call it six for six. Too easy. Predicting The Love Guru will falter is like dunking on an eight foot rim. Hell, I coulda reversed this bad boy.
Result: 5.4 million (My rank: #6, $1.4m off)
Now THAT'S annoying. I'm paying for the fact that evidently the whole world now hates Shyamalan. Except the owner/operator of this site, of course. Pretty sure he still loves him.
Result: 5.0 million (My rank: #8, $1.1m off)
Dominated. A very sad performance. Oh well, here's hoping the "best B movie ever" DVD release loads up the coffers!
Result: 3.8 million (My rank: #7, $.2m off)
I'm not going to beat myself up over flip-flopping the #7 and #8 slots. I've got to start loving me more. Boom!
Result: 3.7 million (My rank: #9, $0.1m off)
You don't mess with me on these small titles. It gets pretty easy when you have a few weeks of data to work with. By this point the public has said, in unison, "screw the Zohan".
Result: 3.2 million (My rank: #10, $0.1m off)

I saw one headline reads "Wall-E rolls over competition", that's a juvenile overstatement.

When Wanted opens in second by only $11 million, that's not "rolling over competition".

And I'm sorry of CHUD.com, Wall-E has to face BOTH Hancock AND Wanted this week. I doubt this heat will make Wall-E the #1 movie of the summer. It's doubtful.

Personally I find Pixar's films boring compared to the more exciting Dreamworks films, I don't care if the former's technology and art is better than the latter, attitude in the characters are more important and the technical merits.
