Fantastic. The streak goes down as two miserable films fail to find an audience. Man, this is going to be a wrathful wrap-up.
#1 movie predicted correctly: 0 Weeks In A Row
1. 21
What? Why? Only a 37% drop? At this point the studios are lining up a dozen crappy things and praying you choose one. It looks like it's working.
Result: 15.1 million (My rank: #3, $3.6m off)
Am I happy this tanked? Of course. But I really wish it could have pulled in first place so I could hit ten in a row. Very frustrating. They did sooooo much press for this too, all of it terrible. Curses.
Result: 13.4 million (My rank: #1, $2.8m off)
Do you remember when movies would open at $100m for the weekend? I do. Parents passed on this, yet another misfire in a miserable weekend.
Result: 13.3 million (My rank: #2, $2.0m off)
Oh snap, I nailed this one! Well, the right placement at least. Still though, I hope the entire production team behind Leatherheads is forced to answer for what they did. One fourth place placement does nothing to quell my anger.
Result: 9.1 million (My rank: #4, $1.7m off)
Getting a little streak going. I feel good about this pick because I sniffed out the fact that folks weren't interested. It's just an awareness thing; people probably don't even know this is in theaters.
Result: 7.8 million (My rank: #5, $0.9m off)
Ok, now we're talking. Three in a row. This was the worst box office weekend since December 7th. When is Iron Man out again?
Result: 5.4 million (My rank: #6, $0.8m off)
Bingo bango and that's an exactly correct pick. I want a bonus!
Result: 3.5 million (My rank: #7, $0m off)
Wow, the rest of the board really shaped up nicely for me. My anger is subsiding.
Result: 3.4 million (My rank: #8, $0.4m off)
At this level of dollars I want to meet the fool who can nail it. Actually, I don't. He'd probably be crazy boring to hang out with.
Result: 2.8 million (My rank: #10, $.6m off)
The budget was around $105m. It's made $232m worldwide. So then, this must be considered a box office success. I guess I can't hate too much, it was entertaining if completely forgettable.
Result: 2.7 million (My rank: #9, $.4m off)
