#1 movie predicted correctly: 3 Weeks in a Row
Do I enjoy when they only release one clear winner on a weekend? Yes. Yes, I do. Now then, I've seen some giant numbers thrown out here, in the 80s through 100s but I can't see it. The first one made less than this in December. I know some kids are getting out of school and this will romp but I'm still feeling bearish overall. We'll see.
Estimate: $76.6 million
The other thing that will hurt Caspian is the running time, right? Now then, this little film is at around $350m worldwide which means they are going to make their money back. Be on the lookout for the special edition Mach 3 DVD too. Includes Nick Fury scene!!
Estimate: $27.4 million
And then there was the rest of the movies. You know the type. No real direction or momentum, no buzz, no one to really bringing them up. Except me of course. I'm taking Vegas over Racer again. Not because I want to… but because the spreadsheet says so.
Estimate: $9.7 million
Back to Narnia. Since I'm not reviewing the film for any outlet I want to tell you that I'd give it a B+. Very solid family film, waaaay better than the first one (which was God-awful boring). I even got over all the religious babble. Victory!
Estimate: $9.5 million
The tenth place film this weekend I have making .5 million. That's got to be the lowest ever, right? Now you're intrigued aren't you? But don't skip down. We have a few more titles to tackle first. Eyes on me.
Estimate: $4.3 million
I've got it at $41.7m total right now. Budget was $30m. Conclusion: modest box office success. Yay! Tina Fey gets to work again.
Estimate: $3.6 million
The mystery is why five giant films were released in May, more than the rest of the prior months combined. Evidently taking time off is a very Hollywood thing to do.
Estimate: $1.9 million
I read a great article on Slate.com the other day which got into how the military judges and lawyers are sabotaging the cases against the Gitmo inmates because they don't believe in the legality of them. See? Some people out there still use their head for something more than a hat rack.
Estimate: $1.3 million
Do you realize I've never been on a movie poster? Doesn't that seem slightly outrageous, a big-time reviewer cat like me? I write for multiple outlets, I'm very handsome, and I'm kind to my friends and relatives. So what's the deal? Global conspiracy? You decide.
Estimate: $.8 million
It will climb into the top ten this weekend after missing out last weekend by, I kid you not, $551 US dollars. That's like 70 people more that saw Prom Night. Sigh. Perhaps we should start doing a top five if we're only measuring a few dozen people.
Estimate: $.5 million

  1. Methinks you've picked the #1 movie, but very much overestimated its reach. How about less than $50 million?

  2. You know, it is hard to say. It looked like a big number when I posted it, but all the kiddies stayed home and didn't watch Speed Racer so the parents have to figure out some way to get them out of the house and Prince Caspian just might be it.
