Box-Office Oracle: Aug. 31 – Sep. 3

Halloween in August is your victory. Crazy, I know.
#1 movie predicted correctly: Five weeks in a row
1. Halloween
Note: These are all four day Labor Day weekend estimates. Traditionally Labor Day hasn't been great for movie revenue, but Halloween follows in the fine steps of the remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre on the financial front.
Estimate: $24.9 million
It's strange because a lot of people have asked me about this one (it's horrid) but the financial predictions for it seem to be low. I hope I'm not getting caught in the middle of a perception versus reality battle. I hate those.
Estimate: $16.2 million
3. Superbad
Yep, the champ goes down this weekend but it was a hell of a run. Now we can all sit back and wait for the unrated and super nice DVD.
Estimate: $12.9 million
Why not catch this one this Labor Day? It's solid. In fact, they should make alternate versions for other cultures too. Something to the effect of The Bournsky Ultimatum for the Russians. Sorry. That was uncalled for, but I'm quite sleepy.
Estimate: $9.8 million
If you had a million dollars to give me for naming one person in this film I couldn't. If you gave me ten seconds I would look it up though, so long as you still gave me the million dollars.
Estimate: $8.0 million
6. Rush Hour 3
Saw a great article on The Onion about how now Chris Tucker is going to concentrate on smaller Rush Hour projects such as Rush Hour the stage play. That's high comedy.
Estimate: $7.3 million
7. War
What will the next great action franchise be? Certainly not War of course but we're now in need of a new Bourne, Bond, or Die Hard. Any takers?
Estimate: $7.1 million
This has to falter in weekend two. No way are there Bean fans that have patience.
Estimate: $6.8 million
What can you say here? It was a catastrophe. So I guess you could say that.
Estimate: $4.4 million
10. Stardust
This could be The Simpsons Movie but I think I'm allowed to root a bit with the ten slot.
Estimate: $2.8 million

Hmm i wish they would have just came out with the Holloween remake near holloween it would have made the feel of the movie fit more. The whole august thing just makes the movie seem lame. But i will go see it anyways… holloween fan here.
Yeah, it would have made sense for the film to come out near Halloween, but with 30 Days of Night and Saw IV coming out at the end of October it is obvious they were making a monetary decision. However, releasing it in August doesn't really help its chances at the box.
I am just wondering if Balls of Fury can come in second like Laremy projects, I have already turned two people away from seeing it, hopefully all the reviews will deter the rest.
