Box-Office Oracle: Apr. 25 – Apr. 27, 2008
Break out your dart board - four movies could take the crown!
#1 movie predicted correctly: 0 Weeks in a Row
1. Baby Mama
Who knows. I'm taking this one out of the mess – four films at the top within $1.2m of each other. This one has the most name recognition and maybe gals will strong arm their mates into seeing this in exchange for Iron Man.
Estimate: $11.4 million
The first one didn't make jack. That's a little known fact, look it up. So why is this one going to make more? Osmosis. The very fact that it's in theaters means someone is going to see it. Maybe you?
Estimate: $11.3 million
It will only bleed 38.5%. That's what I say. Don't you let me down Jason Segel!
Estimate: $10.9 million
I still don't grasp why people saw this in the first place. So I really can't imagine who would see it the second weekend out. It will slip 52% or my name isn't The Oracle.
Estimate: $10.3 million
5. Deception
And thus begins the long march of the terrible movies. The deal here is that this one is God awful. I will admit I laughed through most of it… but I'm not sure that was their intent.
Estimate: $5.0 million
6. Prom Night
I think B-Luv should do a countdown to when Iron Man opens. Either that or pay us double for having to deal with these losers for one final weekend.
Estimate: $4.4 million
7. Nim's Island
I spoke to a 6th grade class today about what I do for a living. You know, the whole movie reviewin' thing. Anyway, long story short, even they hate dumbed down kid's films. And they are basically kids themselves!
Estimate: $3.4 million
8. 21
Can we all just admit that Bosworth was hot in Blue Crush but hasn't done diddly since? Only then can we begin to heal as a nation.
Estimate: $3.1 million
9. 88 Minutes
Speaking of the election; how much would you pay for them just to choose a Dem nominee already? I think I'd pay $100… and I'm a huge fan of politics. Enough already though, what more can we need to know about these candidates?
Estimate: $3.0 million
I think I'd live in Whoville. It doesn't seem so bad there. And you know my predictions would be spot on (and rhyming) if Seuss was involved.
Estimate: $1.6 million
