Laremy, why is Confessions a disaster for it's studio???The timing was the worst possible,so they couldn't have expected more than 17 mill opening weekend, plus it stars a bunch of pretty much unknowns(Isla Fisher got first billing, but i only remember her for her role in Wedding Crashers)and then some others who aren't in their best Box Office shape(Goodman,Cusack)..And the budget is about 30-40 mill so they will break even and possibly make a profit from international sales...Just wondering though..And Pink Panther 2, how did it manage to bomb so badly???It's looking to exit the top10 next week with less than 25 mill..Slumdog will get a 3-5 million boost from the Oscars,if you remember No Country For Old Men, nearly doubled it's weekend gross the week after the Oscars comparing to the previous one..SO i am definately expecting it to end with 90+ mill

I wasn't disparaging Playboy. They've had a slew of amazing writers. I was disparaging them for film reviews, for which they have no pedigree at all. If you can't get Hammond or RS to give you a quote you're in deep trouble.

Actually, I usually read through the articles in Playboy once my fiancé's done with it. They've published some really good fiction over the years, and I enjoy Raw Data. But the movie reviews are kind of a joke.

I'm glad to see that Coraline dropped less than 10%. It's a beautiful film, but a lot of people assumed it would be front-loaded. I think word of mouth has been pretty good.

Actually, Playboy magazine is extremely high-end in terms of the articles that are published in it. Sure, we all know it for its pornographic images, but have you ever heard the joke: "Oh, I only get Playboy for the articles." Well, I'm sure that's never the only reason someone buys Playboy, but that joke does has something behind it. Its written content is high quality. It's a big deal to be published in Playboy! So it would make sense to have a quote from Playboy because they probably have a great movie critic writing for them.

Yep, you're exactly right. I meant to say 2nd highest gross total already, not opening.

Mr. Box Office Guy, sir, I don't mean to be a know-it-all (you surely know more about predicting films then I do), but "Freddy vs. Jason" ended it's run w/ 82.6 million, it only opened with about $36 million I believe. So technically this is the biggest opening for any Freddy or Jason movie (unadjusted of course).Hooray for them! Boo for us viewers who will be treated to many, many sequels now more than ever.
