Your Box Office Predictions as 'Spider-Man 2' Eyes $100 Million after $8.7m on Thursday

That $100 million mark looms

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Box Office PredictionsWill The Amazing Spider-Man 2 become the first film of 2014 to cross $100 million on opening weekend? Looking at the reader averages it's going to be a close call. Laremy went well over, predicting a $109.5 million opening, but readers aren't so sure, just inching over the century mark at $100.8 million.

The film opened with $8.7 million yesterday, which puts it on a trajectory of anywhere from $95-105 million, which means it's going to be close.

As for the rest of the weekend's predictions, they aren't nearly as interesting. The readers are at $13.7 million for The Other Woman's sophomore weekend, $1.2 million below Laremy and they went $700,000 below Laremy on Heaven is for Real at $9.3 million. Then, with Captain America: The Winter Soldier it's a wash.

I've included Laremy's predictions and the average reader predictions directly below and I'll be back on Sunday with box office estimates. To see Laremy's full list of predictions and all 90 reader predictions for this weekend click here.

Despite my relatively robust prediction, I have to admit deep-down, I hope "Spider-Man 2" flops big time, for the sake of all movies...I mean, it really is a prime example of everything I hate about the movie industry today (beating a franchise into the ground, horrible, fake looking, overused CGI, plot and character development placed behind setting up future installments instead of worrying about making the one you're watching a good film, etc. etc.)

I think Spider-Man willl end up going 36-40-29 for 105M.
