Borat's Cousin Directing MacLaine and Dukakis
And get this, it's a comedy...
Yup, Borat has a cousin and Shirley MacLaine and Olympia Dukakis have put their acting careers in his hands as they have joined the dark comedy Poor Things with Ash Baron Cohen directing.
Ash is the cousin of Borat actor Sacha Baron Cohen and he will be directing from Trent Haaga's script in which MacLaine and Dukakis head a grandma gang. The story was inspired by real news events and crime scandals surrounding recent arrests and convictions of elderly women for various "grandma gang" exploits, which have included scams and cons involving drug sales, insurance fraud and murder.
MacLaine is aboard also as a producer and Dukakis is in the early stages of negotiations.
For MacLaine this will be her second upcoming pic as her other is with Oscar-winning director Richard Attenborough for Closing the Ring centered on a WWII pilot who crashed near Belfast and asked the man who found him to return his ring to his girlfriend in America.
