In my film class at school, we're doing an entire unit on Hitchcock, and we just watched Rear Window… it was awesome. I wish I could have seen his movies in theaters (my teacher told us about how Psycho scared the crap out of everyone back when it came out). We're not watching rope, though, so I'm adding it to my Netflix cue. And andre, that ending is quite possibly the coolest/creepiest/most chillin endings I've ever seen! I was shaking after the first time I watched it!

Hey Amnesiac, no sweat. I didn't think you were being presumptuous or anything. There are people that think it's a rip and others (like me) that think otherwise. Doesn't make me right. That's funny you mention your age because I think I was your age when I first saw Notorious. I had a crush on Bergman at the time, I remember. And how good is that ending? I don't want to spoil anything for Brad but when You Know Who's name is called into the house at the end…CHILLING.
Oh and Brad…Rope is SO GOOD. It was the movie that really got me into Hitchcock. Rear Window is definitely up there as well. As for Woo's doves … I believe they are his own thing. If nothing else, it has become a Woo thing.

Oddly enough, before MI:3 I think I watched MI:2 more than the first movie, even though I don't think it is the better film. I guess it is the mindless action, or maybe the doves… are doves homage to anyone or did John Woo trademark that? As for the Notorious, that is actually one of the few Hitchcock films I have not seen and I have about 20 of his movies… Dammit! Off to Best Buy. Oh, and NBN and Psycho are not his best movies, while Rear Window might be my fav, I love Wrong Man and Rope.

Sorry, I didn't know about everyone bringing up the Notorious stuff. I think I was in 4th grade when it came out, so I was too distracted by all the big action scenes to even know who Hitchcock was (my favorite scene was the motorcycle chase). I really do apologize, because as a 16 year old, I have the habit of thinking that I'm always right. It's awesome that we have the same favorite Hitchcock movie (everyone else I know sides with either North By Northwest or Psycho). When are you gonn be on the podcast again, I miss your segment, andre.

I know the Notorious stuff (my favorite Hitchcock film by the way) bothered some people when it came out but I always felt it was more a homage than a rip. You might even say Nyah protecting Ethan, walking him out of danger after she injected herself with chimera was homage to the stairway scene in Notorious. M:I II is crap, but I liked little stuff like that. That and Ethan Hunt magically turning into a jedi in the film's climax.

The real reason that Mission Impossible: 2 sucks (at least to me), is that it is a complete rip-off of Notorious. Not only does it just steal plot from Hitchcock's masterpiece, it steals entire scenes (like at the horse race). The rest seems to be pretty accurate, though.
