BLU-RAY LIVE BLOG: 'No Country for Old Men' the Quotes Edition!
Too many good quotes to leave this one alone

2:58:58 AM: Here comes the best line of the entire film.
2:59:06 AM: Wait for it…

3:00:41 AM: Caleb Jones deserves an Oscar for that line alone.
3:01:33 AM: Don't let anyone tell you this movie doesn't have humor in it.
3:04:07 AM: Okay, so that's it for the flick. It's fantastic and on Blu-ray high-definition it is impressive as hell. Of course that is to be expected considering it was nominated for Roger Deakins' cinematography.
3:05:05 AM: Now to the special features… We'll start with the 25 minute making of doc appropriately called "The Making of No Country for Old Men".
3:07:33 AM: Just listening to Kelly MacDonald and her Scottish accent compared to her accent in the film catches you off guard. If you remember she was prominently featured in Trainspotting, she isn't a newbie by any standards.
3:10:56 AM: So far there isn't a lot of good stuff in this… pretty generic.
3:19:27 AM: So far we have met the cast and now we are getting a look at the location (West Texas). It's not really all that interesting, especially considering all the clips from the film that are shown that seem to only make the featurette longer rather than add anything to it.
3:21:04 AM: Chigurh is pronounced "Sugar" a lot in this featurette.
3:23:39 AM: Okay, now we are getting into the making of the opening choking scene.
3:24:05 AM: I'm just shy of 18 minutes into this thing…
3:24:47 AM: I'm glad they put this in here because I was wondering how they did this and they give you a good look.
3:25:49 AM: Now we have the making of the pharmacy explosion.
3:28:15 AM: Next up we have a look at the weapons, including the cattle gun.
3:29:45 AM: Next up, "Working with the Coens" featurette.
3:31:47 AM: This is nothing more than an 8 minute look at the cast and crew chatting about the Coen brothers. It's not exactly interesting or surprising. Something like this never is considering it's going to be a love fest.
3:36:13 AM: Basically, the Coens are fantastic. No complaints out of me.
3:37:20 AM: The final feature is "Diary of a Country Sheriff". This one is just under seven minutes long…
3:40:31 AM: This is a good feature primarily for the folks that don't really understand what this film actually is about, and yes, I have even read a few comments from writers that say they love this film, yet they also complain about certain parts of it, but they wouldn't be complaining if they actually knew what the film was about. It's a simple film, but it is unconventionally simple and it can be frustrating if you look at it from a purely visual perspective without using your brain at all.
3:44:12 AM: Overall the special features are extremely underwhelming. Most fans of the Coens are going to be extremely upset there is no commentary track. Fans of Cormac McCarthy are going to be upset there isn't an opinion from his perspective or even a feature dedicated to the adaptation of his work.
3:46:12 AM: From a video perspective this flick is marvelous and this is truly a film that never gets old. I have now seen it five times (twice in theaters), and with each viewing it only gets better. I still laugh at all the same jokes and the performances are captivating. To say I recommend you buy it would be an understatement. Pick it up, you won't regret it, and if you don't like it the first time, watch it again, and again, and again.
