Higher Taxes or Government Cutbacks… Which One You Want?

Back on October 16 I did a feature on RopeofSilicon called "Casting the 2008 Presidential Election" and in it I cast the above bulldog for Lou Dobbs. I did this because the man is a raging loon and how no one has called him out for being one is baffling to me.

Does anyone watch his show? Only idiots and amazingly rich people can agree with him right? Because idiots are dumb and rich people have time to complain about everything, which is Dobbs' M.O.

He claims to be an Independent and based on his CNN program I can only assume that means hating everyone all the time. I have never seen an individual so disgruntled. However, there is always a great moment of comedy and that is when he unveils his latest poll. They are so wildly geared toward making people answer the way he wants them to it is phenomenal. It's like asking a.) Are you for killing puppies and pray to spend eternity in Hell? or b.) Are you normal?

His latest poll was the greatest when it asked "Would you prefer higher taxes or government cutbacks?" Prefer? What would I prefer? Where is choice "C" offering me a Ferrari and Megan Fox on the weekends?

Surprisingly enough 17% actually voted for "Higher Taxes" which tells me 17% are in on the joke that is Lou Dobbs.

So, is There a President Among Them?

I said yesterday I felt one of the senators voting "no" in today's bailout (which passed mind you) would one day run for, and become President. The list has been revealed. I guess only time will tell if there is a President among them:

Allard (R)
Barasso (R)
Brownback (R)
Bunning (R)
Cantwell (D)
Cochran (R)
Crapo (R)
DeMint (R)
Dole (R)
Dorgan (D)
Enzi (R)
Feingold (D)
Inhofe (R)
Johnson (D)
Landrieu (D)
Nelson (FL) (D)
Roberts (R)
Sanders (I)
Sessions (R)
Shelby (R)
Stabenow (D)
Tester (D)
Vitter (R)
Wicker (R)
Wyden (D)

Now we wait, will the House vote "yay" or "nay"? If "nay" what party is blamed and what candidate goes down?

A Future President Will Vote ‘No’ On Bailout Tomorrow

I am not claiming to be clairvoyant, but I just think this proposed bailout is simply putting a band-aid on a broken leg and think it is a horrible idea. Will it work? Sure, but only for a short time. It's like a long term heroin hit. Things are going to be warm and fuzzy for a little while, but an addict always comes down off a high, especially when it is paid for and you can believe they are going to come back for more.

I see a day in the future where someone voting "No" on tonight's bailout proposal will be able to run for President saying so. That is, if it passes.

As I am sure anyone who happens by my blog regularly already knows, I am an Obama supporter and upset he can't vote against this bill. Neither he or McCain can vote against it because it would appear as if they were turning their backs on the people. It's a shame, just when we have something as important as the Presidential election it can't be used for good, instead it has to be used to follow the good ol' boy track.

One thing I don't like is Obama's claim to stay calm and once it is passed and he is President he will take a look at it and get it right. Screw that, get it right now!

McCain caused a problem by bringing Presidential politics into it because there was nothing he could really do that would help his campaign, it would only slow down and hinder the process. He realized this and that is why he went back on his word and went to the debate, then again his attempt to sabotage the debate was in hopes of delaying it one week and booting the VP debate. Fortunately we get to watch that train wreck tomorrow night.

All-in-all, this bailout package is a HUGE deal to everyone involved. Both McCain and Obama have to look as if they are doing something to benefit the country no matter what it is and the only political gain either will attempt to grab is a "who did it first?" and "what party gets the blame and the credit?" Then you have everyone else that is voting and basically setting up their future careers in politics in an upswing or a downward spiral.

Will it pass? Everyone on CNN seems to think so, but I'll be damned if that isn't a serious amount of optimism.

Personally, I hope it doesn't pass. Who are they bailing out? Failed business men? Screw that! I run a small website and am successful, why are the failed folks getting money handed to them? Oh, because they asked for it. Nice. I forgot to send in my application for free money as did every other hard working American apparently.

I saw an article that not only blamed the mortgage brokers, but also the folks getting the mortgages that they couldn't afford. COULDN'T AFFORD! If I am selling something for $100 and you only have $10 to your name I am not going to sell you my something in hopes you somehow wrangle up another $90 in the next week or so. Don't blame the folks trying to get something for cheap, blame the folks trying to sell something expensive that's disguised as cheap. They are the ones that more-or-less conned folks into getting involved.

I recently was going to buy a condo and bailed out of one deal at the last minute. I could have afforded it, but it was going to be tight enough that I decided against it. The way things are now I thank God I bailed because I would be watching my TV now in fear.

Anyway, hope everything is good with all you out there. Let's hope this doesn't get much worse no matter what happens.

Debate Rules Changed for Inexperienced Sarah Palin

It was announced on Saturday that the three Presidential debates between Barack Obama and John McCain will be free-flowing and loosey-goosey for lack of a better word/phrase. However, the October 2nd debate between Sarah Palin and Joe Biden will go by different rules at the insistence of the McCain camp.

Apparently it will have shorter question-and-answer segments than those for the presidential nominees. There will also be much less opportunity for free-wheeling, direct exchanges between the running mates.

What a joke.

First we have three straight weeks of what has amounted to basically a media blackout of this woman and now she is going to be protected during the debate as well? What a farce. What simple-minded individuals are falling for this?

The NY Times article says "McCain advisers said they had been concerned that a loose format could leave Ms. Palin, a relatively inexperienced debater, at a disadvantage and largely on the defensive."

She's inexperienced in everything! The McCain camp keeps on babbling on about how she has more experience than even Obama but she remains protected. I have never had this kind of reaction to an individual ever before in my life. Sarah Palin as a person may be fine and dandy, but as a potential Vice President it is an absolute joke. Anyone supporting the decision obviously has no care for what direction this country goes in.

Obviously, sparks can still fly at the VP debate, it isn't as if they have electrodes attached to their body preventing Biden from addressing Palin directly, but the mere thought that the moderators will be inclined or instructed to keep a lockdown on the proceedings is insulting.

The McCain camp already insulted Americans once with the Palin nomination and now they are hoping to keep her hidden for all time. I am sure once the October 2nd debate is over we may never hear from Sarah Palin again, win or lose.
