Don’t Try to Redefine Marriage
I was watching Anderson Cooper last night and they got to talking about Proposition 8 and he had on one fella for it and a woman who was against it. Unfortunately the video is not online so I don't remember either of their names or what exactly the conversation entailed, but I can tell you it is so weird for me to be so frustrated and annoyed by the prejudice on display by passing a law that takes rights away from people and not even be one of the people being discriminated against.
You don't have to be gay to realize Proposition 8 is horseshit. It is just one more way of segregating and calling someone different and telling them what they can't do as a result of that difference. Racism may be a larger issue simply due to the fact that it effects more people in any given example, but just because the majority of the people in the world aren't gay doesn't mean they don't have the right to get married. I mean, what a stupid thing to worry about.
The guy Cooper had on kept hammering home how allowing gay marriage is simply a problem because it "redefines the meaning of the word marriage as it is written in the Constitution". Ha, you mean to tell me these folks are fighting because Websters would be upset they would have to redefine marriage? What a stupid argument and an unforgiveable way of spinning the real reason, which is you hate gays. I wonder what we would be arguing if the Constitution didn't read like this:
Marriage in the United States shall consist only of the union of a man and a woman. Neither this Constitution, nor the Constitution of any State, nor State or Federal law, shall be construed to require that marital status or the legal incidents thereof be conferred upon unmarried couples or groups.
... but instead read like this ...
Marriage in the United States consists of the union of two consenting people. Neither this Constitution, nor the Constitution of any State, nor State or Federal law, shall be construed to require that marital status or the legal incidents thereof be conferred upon unmarried couples or groups.
My guess is people would be arguing wildly to try and have the wording changed. Dummies.
McCain Supporters Turn to Joker Tactics…
Did you hear the story of Ashley Todd, a McCain campaign worker who was allegedly mugged and had the letter "B" cut into her face after the mugger saw her McCain bumper sticker? Well, guess what, she lied. After being administered a lie detector test the results were not immediately made public, but today a Pittsburgh police commander told KDKA Investigator Marty Griffin that Todd confessed to making up the story.
This means this moron cut her own face? Or had someone cut it for her? What, is she the Joker? Maybe she will be in the sequel to The Dark Knight.
Not good my friends... Not good.
John McCain is Proud of His Supporters
During last night's debate John McCain said he was proud of his supporters. Obviously, he is talking about the majority and not about the folks shouting "terrorist". Oh, and that "kill him" shout from Pennsylvania is said to be unfounded according to the Secret Service.
However, I would like to hear John McCain's response to the folks from Ohio that have been put on tape saying such things as, "I'm afraid if he wins, the Black will take over," and "He must support terrorists. If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it must be a duck. And that to me, is Obama."
Is he proud of these folks too? Watch the video for more footage that you probably already don't believe.
McCain/Palin Supporter Racism and Hatred Continues
I think it has now gone from ignorance to downright racist hatred, the line seems to no longer be blurred as much as it is clearly drawn. The comments in the picture above are one thing, but what you will hear in the video that follows from an October 8 McCain/Palin rally at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA will shock anyone that has the capacity to think for themselves.
Maybe McCain's camp isn't saying these things specifically, but if they want to avoid being painted as "sowing the seeds of hatred" they need to come out and denounce these kinds of comments flat out. By not doing so pretty much says you agree with what is being said or at least accept it if it means winning the election.

Specific example? "I'll try to find you some and I'll bring them to yah!"
Good Lord!!!! Someone tell me this woman does not actually stand a chance at becoming second in command!
Higher Taxes or Government Cutbacks… Which One You Want?
Back on October 16 I did a feature on RopeofSilicon called "Casting the 2008 Presidential Election" and in it I cast the above bulldog for Lou Dobbs. I did this because the man is a raging loon and how no one has called him out for being one is baffling to me.
Does anyone watch his show? Only idiots and amazingly rich people can agree with him right? Because idiots are dumb and rich people have time to complain about everything, which is Dobbs' M.O.
His latest poll was the greatest when it asked "Would you prefer higher taxes or government cutbacks?" Prefer? What would I prefer? Where is choice "C" offering me a Ferrari and Megan Fox on the weekends?
Surprisingly enough 17% actually voted for "Higher Taxes" which tells me 17% are in on the joke that is Lou Dobbs.
