Bassett Has a Case of the 'Browns'

The Hollywood Reporter tells us that Angela Bassett is set to co-star alongside Tyler Perry in his next film for Lionsgate, Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns. Normally I would say it is all ego on Perry's part to keep releasing these things with his name attached, but without it no one would go see them.
For Perry's fifth theatrical outing he will tell a story about love and family, Bassett will play Brenda, a single mother living in inner-city Chicago who takes her family to Georgia for the funeral of her father, whom she never met. There, she is introduced to the Browns, her father's fun-loving, crass Southern clan. Brenda also finds romance along the way.
This story is adapted from yet another one of Perry's stage plays and inside the film Perry will play the famous Madea and Uncle John. Production begins this summer at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta.
