Banderas is a 'Conquistador'
Antonio arrives in the New World
Variety is reporting that Antonio Banderas is set to star in Conquistador, an independent epic for director Andrucha Waddington.
The film traces the exploits of 16th century explorer Hernan Cortes. Nicholas Kazan penned the script which revolves around Cortes' internal and external struggles as he and a small band of soldiers arrive in the New World and bring about the violent destruction of the Aztec empire.
Taking a page out of Mel Gibson's book, some scenes will be shot in Mayan and Nahuatl, the language of the Aztecs.
