Bale Joins Wahlberg in 'Prisoners'
Will Singer sign on and get things rolling?
Even though it appears the involvement of Bryan Singer on the vigilante drama Prisoners is still up for question Risky Biz Blog reports Christian Bale has attached himself to the project, joining Mark Wahlberg on the thriller and making the package for Aaron Guzikowski's spec even more desirable.
The film has something of a Taken meets Max Payne kind of vibe centering on a Boston man (Wahlberg) who turns vigilante after his daughter and her best friend are kidnapped. However, Hollywood types are giving the Guzikowski script much higher praise comparing in to The Silence of the Lambs and Seven.
Singer's involvement has been rumored since "Entertainment Weekly" first reported it about two weeks ago with Singer praising the script as well. Risky Biz's Borys Kit and Steven Zeitchik have read the screenplay and give the following description:
After his 6-year-old daughter and her friend are kidnapped, a small-town carpenter butts heads with a young, brash detective in charge of the investigation. The father is a Bible-reading, deer-hunting survivalist. The cop, meanwhile, can’t wait to get to the city. Feeling failed by the law, the father captures the man he believes responsible and begins to torture him in a desperate attempt to find out what he did with the girls, whom he’s convinced are still alive.
They go on to say the two leads have great arcs and the supporting roles are quite "juicy," the script is dark and quite a page-turner.
Apparently the film is not yet financed and Endeavor doesn't plan on shopping the pic until a director is attached. On top of that KIt and Zeitchik say the Bale/Wahlberg combo is fragile, but there isn't any explanation as to why.
The film sounds increasingly intriguing with the names attached, it'll be interesting to see how it all turns out.

Wouldnt mind seeing Bale and Walberg in a film together, I think they would make for an intersting team up, hope they both stay with it.
Bale and Wahlberg could be an interesting match. On the other hand, Bale has the potential to blow Wahlberg away.

Honestly, Bale hasn't made anything less than a really good movie since 2002, so I'm totally ready for anything he does, especially since this looks like yet another good choice.
Terminator Salvation and Public Enemies, now this, I'm pumped, now just announce that Bale will have a cameo in Inception and then give us details on Batman 3 and I'll have a crazy geek-out moment.
I'm hoping Bale will be the dad too, but I read somewhere else that Wahlberg had that part. Hopefully, there's more to the cop than the little bit we know so far. There must be, or I couldn't see Bale taking it.
And he hasn't made anything less than a really good movie. At this point, all they have to do is announce that Christian Bale is in a movie and I'll go see it. The only other actor I feel that way about is Russell Crowe.

You're right, kim. Bale is no Russell Crowe. Crowe's always been at the top of my list of favorite actors, with Bale running a close second. Both do fantastic jobs in their roles!

Bale is better than Crowe. But Crowe comes in a close second. I love then both.
If you think Crowe is better it's because you haven't seen all of Bale movies. Doubt Crowe could pull a Machinist, a Rescue Dawn or an American Psycho…
Actually, I've seen all the movies you mentioned "L". I have no doubt that Crowe could have pulled off any of those movies, but they would have ended up being slightly different. I admire the acting of both of them. Don't particularly see either one as better, just different. But they are both in a class of their own when it comes to actors these days!
