Baking Up Some 'Wolfman' Effects
Word on where the wolfy FX will come from
Shock Til You Drop has received word that the fella behind such films as Hellboy, The Frighteners and The Ring is aboard to bring Mark Romanek's remake of the classic Wolfman to life with Benicio Del Toro set to become all wolfy.
Six-time Oscar winner Rick Baker is the man that has been given the duties and werewolves are part of his history. Let's see, he did Michael Jackson's "Thriller", The Howling, the television series "Werewolf", the Jack Nicholson starrer Wolf, An American Werewolf in London and even a little ape work in Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes. Suffice to say another trip to lycan territory should not be out of his realm of capabilities.
Wolfman was written by Andrew Kevin Walker and he has apparently worked in some frightening new twists to a familiar tale made famous by Lon Chaney, Jr. in 1941. He has added several characters and plot points that take advantage of cutting-edge visual effects technology.
Shooting is set to begin this December with a November 14, 2008 release already set.
