Artwork for Zack Snyder's 'Sucker Punch' Revealed
Unfortunately, no word on what any of it means
While at Comic Con, director Zack Snyder is in attendance for a screening of the director's cut of Watchmen, which was simultaneously streamed to Blu-ray users utilizing the BD-Live service, but one thing those watching at home didn't get was a t-shirt sporting the first piece of artwork for Snyder's upcoming "girls with machineguns" feature Sucker Punch.
Photos of the shirt began circulating the Internet, but now Alex Pardee, the artist responsible for the artwork has posted an actual image of the piece and not a shoddy picture of a t-shirt. Unfortunately, in his post at his official website he doesn't give any clues as to what the imagery means in relation to the feature, but he does give something of a new synopsis:
Set in the 1950s, SuckerPunch follows Babydoll (Emily Browning) who is confined to a mental institution by her stepfather, who intends to have her lobotomized in five days. While there, she imagines an alternative reality to hide her from the pain, and in that world, she begins planning her escape, needing to steal five objects to help get her out before she is deflowered by a vile man.
Emily Browning, Vanessa Hudgens, Abbie Cornish, Jamie Chung and Jena Malone co-star in the film, targeted for a March 25, 2011 release.

I see a sword, an hourglass, a plane, an owl, a machine gun, a key, a claw, a building with a tower and some sort or tentacles? Also a possible shadowy pigs face between the "S" and her face?
I'm sure someone could come up with a crazy way to tie all those things into the films storyline…

Good call. I just noticed the sword, hourglass, claws, machine gun, key and castle. I've only just noticed the others when you pointed those out. I wonder how Zack will pull all these together.
I love the artwork and I'm excited that this is an original idea, not a sequel, adaptation or remake so he really has creative license to take it where he wants to take it and tell a good and rich story with beautiful visuals.
It's early days yet but the synopsis and artwork are promising. Hopefully we get more clues when shooting starts.
As much as I am interested in seeing a Zack Snyder original, I must play the devil's advocate and remind everyone that Zack Snyder has never had a verily good movie. Most of his movies contain moments of genius, but the genius is inevitably conquered by the shoddy moments which dominate his films. Zack Snyder is not a very good director. No point in saying that this will be a masterpiece or very good for that matter. If anything Snyder has proved that he isn't at all ready to handle a project of this magnitude. Judging by the cast he wasn't able to retrieve many good actors. I do agree with Sean A, nice artwork.

@T: I agree with you about Snyder having his limits but he is dedicated and tries hard to not come across as a hack. I am one of the three people in the world who enjoyed his Watchmen(though I really wished they had included more of Hollis Mason in the theatrical version) so I'm ready to give him another chance. Though the inclusion of Vanessa Hudgens and co. does worry me. Even Hilary Duff would've been a better choice. No seriously.
good movie for all the fantasy lovers..including me!! The picture almost looks like Vanessa…weird cause she's not the lead character…anyway, I love it nonetheless!!
