Zailian Stares into 'A Thousand Splendid Suns'

Let's hope it is better than All the King's Men

He wrote Schindler's List, Gangs of New York and American Gangster and he is set to write and direct a feature adaptation of Khaled Hosseini's bestselling novel "A Thousand Splendid Suns" for Columbia Pictures. He is Steven Zaillian who recently directed the travesty that was All the King's Men and I can only hope this film fares better.

"Splendid Suns" is Hosseini's follow-up to "The Kite Runner," which was recently made into a film and will hit theaters November 2 directed by Marc Forster. "Splendid Suns" revolves around two Muslim women, married to the same man, who foster a friendship that lasts more than 10 years against the backdrop of war in Afghanistan.

There is no word on casting or production start since the script hasn't even been written, so that is all I can really tell you. However, if you would like to read an excerpt from the book you can do that right here in PDF format.
