Wright Talks About His 'Grindhouse' Trailer

What's the word on 'Don't Scream'?

I had a chance yesterday to speak with Edgar Wright about his new project Hot Fuzz, and couldn't help but ask a little bit about his faux Grindhouse trailer. Wright's fake trailer is just one of many the will run in between the two double features that make up Grindhouse. Here is what he had to say:

I wrote and directed it and Simon (Pegg) and Nick (Frost) are both in it which is very cool. Simon is in heavy monster makeup so you’d have to be really on the ball to spot him. Nick, on the flip side, is completely naked.

There’s one shot of everything in it, that’s the joke of it, that’s it’s completely non-sensical. One of those Eurpoean style horror films in the 70’s. You kind of watch the trailer and think “What the hell is that about?” It’s got a haunted house, but it’s got cannibals in it. Kind of like The Legend of Hell House.

I put in as many random elements as I could. And the voice over tells you nothing about the plot. It involves vampires, possession, cannibal men, creepy kids, people with like milk stigmata, and adult baby covered in his own feces. Will Arnett does the voice over.

Well then. I’m pretty sure he wasn’t screwing with me so it seems like the trailer, “Don’t Scream” will have every horror element EVER in it. Enjoy it when Grindhouse comes out on Friday, April 6th.

And oh yeah, I’ll have some news on Hot Fuzz as we get closer to the April 20th release date!
