‘Wolverine’ Now Casts a Black Eyed Pee and It’s Not Fergie

This superheo feature is getting packed

will.i.am

They might not be making X-Men 4, but it is starting to look like it as the cast of X-Men Origins: Wolverine has just gained three new superheroes.

First off, the rumors of Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Taylor Kitsch as Gambit are 100percent true, and late in the day IESB and Variety both hit my mailbox with news that Black Eyed Pea member will.i.am will be starring as John Wraith.

Now, I have already covered those other two fellas, but who is this Wraith character? Well, Wikipedia tells us:

He was part of Team X along with Wolverine, Sabretooth, Maverick, Mastodon, and Silver Fox. Wraith was a powerful teleporter, capable of getting the team out of sticky situations after their job was finished. He had a penchant for explosives, arming himself with shaped charges. Like the other members of Team X, he was given an artificial age suppressant so he was likely much older than he looked. His time as a secret agent and a member of the Weapon X program has left John somewhat paranoid.

Sometimes I really wish I had been big into comics and could riff a little more on these characters, but I didn’t read a single page of comics growing up so Wikipedia is left to be my source.

Variety goes on to say that Marvel has been eyeing the possibility of casting Reynolds as Deadpool, an assassin with self-healing powers, for some time with the idea of spinning off the character into his own film series should the character prove popular among moviegoers.

Wolverine is already shooting for a 2009 release.
