Witchy Woman on ‘Witchblade’ Poster

Who's the chick? There isn't even a cast yet

Platinum Dunes has unveiled the teaser poster (uber-sized here) for the live-action feature adaptation Witchblade, based on the Top Cow comicbook franchise. On top of that there is also an official site, but you see that chick below? Who is she? There isn’t even a cast for this film yet.

Nevertheless, the Witchblade mythology will be upon us in 2009. Don’t know what it is? Me neither, but apparently it centers on an ornate jewel-encrusted gauntlet that gives extraordinary powers to the wearer, a specially chosen female from each generation.

The comicbook franchise has sold more than 100 million copies worldwide since debuting in 1995 and spawned a 2000 telepic that turned into a weekly series that ran for two seasons on TNT. “Witchblade” has been published in more than 21 languages and 55 countries, with merchandise widely sold. The most recent incarnation was an anime TV show in Japan by Gonzo Digimation in 2006.

Obviously, based on its history, I am the one in the dark. So here’s the poster… have at it.

It sort of looks like Rachel Luttrell from Stargate Atlantis…which would actually be pretty cool…
