Willis aboard 'Kane and Lynch' Adaptation, What about Billy Bob Thornton?
One rumor is true, but what about the other?
Back on November 14, 2007, the TimesOnline.co.uk reported a rumor that Bruce Willis and Billy Bob Thornton were in the running to play Kane and Lynch, two escapees from death row – one "a flawed mercenary", the other "a medicated psychopath" based on the videogame "Kane & Lynch: Dead Men" that hit store shelves last year.
Well, today part one of that rumor rings true as Bruce Willis will play Adam "Kane" Marcus for director Simon Crane and Lionsgate. Kyle Ward wrote the script.
The Eidos Entertainment game has sold more than 2 million copies since its release as it tells the story of Kane and Lynch, an unlikely pair that team up on a mission to retrieve a stolen microchip.
Crane's experience involves serving as second unit director and stunt coordinator on such films as Hancock, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Troy and X-Men: The Last Stand, but Kane and Lynch will serve as his first feature film as a director.
There is no mention of Thornton in the Variety article or in the Hollywood Reporter article, but the filmmakers are looking for an actor as the goal is to begin shooting on Kane and Lynch before the end of 2008.
