Who's Writing 'Spider-Man 4'?

Oh, it's that guy...

Okay folks, even though I am yet to be overly impressed by a Spider-Man film I hold out hope and some good news comes to the hopeful few as Entertainment Weekly is reporting that James Vanderbilt, the writer behind one of this year's best films – Zodiac – has been hired to pen the script for Spider-Man 4.

For those of you that thought David Koepp had been penning the script, the article actually makes no mention of David whatsoever so I have no idea if he has been officially involved in any way.

However, the article does say that even though there is an upcoming writers strike and there are no assurances that Sam Raimi will be back to direct that Sony Pictures plans on a 2009 release for the film.

Vanderbilt also worked on the screenplay for The Rundown, Basic and Darkness Falls.
