I think you made a mistake not adding Robert Pattinson. I assume you thought he'd just be a teen girls dream in Twilight and that would be it but actually his other projects show what a versatile actor he really is. His role as Salvador Dali in Little Ashes I think is more typical of the actor. Also his role of Art in How To be which just won him best actor atthe Strasbourg Film Festival. He's a very talented charismatic actor and should have made the list over a few of the names on your list.

100% sure Robert Pattinson should be on that list. I just saw the link to your list on IMDB and was surprised to see Pattinson wasnt on it. The Movie Fanatic website really sees the huge potential in Rob and its a shame the ropesofsilicon hasnt. His looks are the least important part of Rob. When you see him in Little Ashes you'll regret not adding him to the list. I dont want to have a go at the other others on your list as I'm sure they have their niche area but Michael Cera plays the same role over and over and a few others on the list have yet to show any versatility.

Pattinson has a timeless quality to him that a lot of actors on the list dont have. He also really inhabits the role he plays – something Shia for instance will never be able to do. Time will tell who will make it big but I'm certain Rob will reach the very top.

The director Catherine Hardwicke when asked to cocmment on Rob when he was selected by AOL as one of the actors to watch out for said "He’s a powerful, sexy leading man and slips incredibly well into different periods and styles. He is going to surprise a lot of people. He's always tried to take a variety of roles. He's very versatile and as good at comedy as he is drama. I love him in The Bad Mother's Handbook. He does GEEK brilliantly.

I think he has huge potential and I cannot wait to see him play Salvador Dali. Infact I'm more excited about seeing him in that film than I am Twilight.

So far Rob Pattinson hasnt put a foot wrong. He's taken on a variety of roles to test himself like Art in How to be and Dali in Little Ashes and I've loved all of the performances and they are all very different. Viewers are going to be very surprised by him. They expect a pretty poster boy but he's got buckets of talent and natural charisma and something that I can only call star quality. I really do think he's the one to watch. Expect to be excited, moved and turned on by his performance as Dali. His one achilles heel is that he isnt good at selling himself at pr events as he is naturally shy and unassuming. Today so many film stars are just glorified salesmen. Personally I;d rather an actor like Pattinson who is classy, subtle, sensitive but with a hint of danger to him. He radiates sex appeal.

Rob Pattinson has the talent, looks and charm to make it big in the film world. He has an intensity on screen that draws you to watch him and noone else. He's a casting director's dream as he suits heroic roles as well as villains. He's a talented musician as well. He's also tall which may not seem important but so many leading actors today are tiny and its great to see a leading man that actually looks the part.

Some on that list have a very short shelf life.

Pattinson is a no brainer for the list. He'll be a future top movie star for sure. Not because of his gorgeous leading man looks but his versatility and willingness to play all sorts of characters. Pattinson's a fascinating character. Unusual and edgy. I'm very drawn to his performances. He's certainly an actor I will always look out for. Not something I can say for the majority on that list. Someone who has seen his Dali role says its awesome and also suitably off the wall. He has a combination of sweetness and danger about him and reminds me of Depp.

Robert Pattinson is amazing and really should have been on this list. I cannot wait to watch his career unfold. I would truly watch him in any role.

Seems I have to join to make it clear Rob Pattinson should have been added to the list but so be it. Sounds boring to repeat the versatility point but it is a key point. Usually an actor with such wonderful leading man looks can only play one type of character (Harrison Ford springs to mind) but with Pattinson we are luckier than that. Besides being a talented musician he's an actor who isnt caught up in image and is as comfortable playing the nerdy roles like Art in How to be and Daniel Gale in Bad Mother's Handbook as he is the more obvious leading man roles. His role as Toby Jugg in the Haunted Airman was particularly difficult and he handled that with aplomb.

Yes he has a lot of fan girls now but he also has a more discerning fanbase too and websites discussing the film industry shouldnt assume because he is so popular that he isnt a brilliant actor too. I was actually glad that his first acting award was for the geeky Art in How To Be.

I didnt get the feeling that the compiler of the list was convinced by some of the names on his own list and I'm definitely not convinced by them. Some are one trick ponies, others have no charisma/screen presence and one who will go nameless cant act his way out of a paper bag but I digress. I'll be predictable and say Pattinson should have been added. Before some sarky person says its just a load of twilight mums posting support I must say I cant stand the twilight mums so my support has nothing to do withTwilight. The film will undoubtedly make Pattinson's name but I regard thid film as the equivalent of Di Caprio's Titanic. Pattinson like Di Caprio is a very versatile actor. The industry today expects a lot from its top actors. Damon and Bale for instance have had to take on action roles in tandem with doing more experimental work. Pattinson has all the qualities to have a similar career. he has the versatility to move between big budget films and more niche roles. I think the director Hardwicke was right in saying he can slip incredibly well into different styles and period and this will be a huge plus for him. I agree with an earlier poster who said he reminds them of Depp.

Pattinson's versatility is awesome – he can radiate a warmth and vulnerability in performances like Daniel Gale and also a chilling coldness as Toby Jugg. Edward Cullen needs a bit of both so I'm fascinated to see how he does with Twilight but I think his role as Salvador Dali in Little Ashes will really be his calling card to a variety of interesting roles.

I voted for James McAvoy not because I think he will be but should be the next big thing. He's a fantastic actor.
He might turn out a bit like Ewan McGregor (maybe it's a scottish thing), very well respected but never the big star you think he could be.

My second choice was Joseph Gordon-Levitt, even in 3rd rock he showed enormous acting talent.

But actual talent doesnt make you a star by default. poor or reasonable acting and great looks could do it as well when talking box-office pull.
The name Brad Pitt pulled in the crowds with Troy while it was Eric Bana that gave the best performance. I'm not saying Pitt was bad mind you, Bana was simply far better.

Robert Pattinson should have been on the list.

Twilight has helped secure a wider fanbase and will open doors for him but its his talent that will keep casting directors coming back for more.

I think its very unwise to underestimate his talent. If I say he is a great all rounder it might be perceived that I dont think he's great at any one aspect of acting but I mean it as a huge compliment. I see Depp as a great all rounder – able to play comedy and drama with equal skill.

He has the looks of a classic leading man but the skill of a character actor.

Rupert Grint is a natural talent and he has a wonderful presence on screen. He has been overshadowed by Dan Radcliffe (who is also an excellent actor) simply because of less screen time in the Harry Potter series. Still, the people he's been working with always praise his talent as well as his humble persona, and he is loved and respected among critics and fans. Many even suggest that he is the real star among the young actors in HP. I'm looking forward to his appearances in THREE movies (Cherrybomb, Wild Target and Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince) in 2009.

I definitely think RUPERT GRINT should be on the list. He has three new films coming out in 2009 and one of them has him starring along side BAFTA-Award winning actor Bill Nighy and the stunning Emily Blunt. In all of his upcoming movie projects, Rupert has managed to play characters that are so startlingly different to one another. In "Cherrybomb" his starring role, you'll see him embrace a character that is ruthless in the dramatic thriller. Whereas in "Wild Target" with Bill Nighy, Rupert will draw on his awesome comedic talents to bring that dark comedy to life while playing a Hitman's apprentice.

He is extremely talented and worth supporting since he is also such an unbelievably funny and sweet guy.

2009 will definitely RUPERT GRINT's breakout year!

How excited I was this morning when I stumbled upon this poll, however to my dismay, I was awestruck to discover that Robert Pattinson was blantly missing from the list…he is the next BIG thing…his career is just starting to take off and how lucky for us that we are here to take it all in…I truly believe that he is the next big movie star because of the choices he makes, and his fans adore him for it…don't believe me, check out his small but memorable role in the Bad Mother's Handbook, or his awesomely creepy performance in the Haunted Airman, and I can't wait to see How to Be…and Twilight. The wonderful thing about watching Rob perform is that you never feel that you are watching Rob act as a character, he is the character and the audience is invited along for the ride, never to be disappointed, and always left asking for more…

I think Rob exudes a hot sex appeal but its combined with a vulnerability and sensitivity which is completely beguiling. Someone said he was timeless and thats so true. I'd definately say he has the sexual magnetism of an icon like Brando or Dean. But without the tragic flaws!

I dont get why Robert Pattinson was added when I see some of the names on the list.

One thing that strikes me about Rob is his fanbase. I think people in the industry are expecting the majority to be rather excitable school girls who are not that discerning. But actually after frequenting lots of sites/forums what comes across is a very knowledgeable large core of fans who know their film and know what makes a top actor. Yes of course they are attracted to Rob but there is an underlying respect for his talent.(I think the press are a bit behind in that aspect). The sites dont spend a lot of time talking about looks etc but his acting ability and future roles. There's a hunger for information on projects with fans even reading up a lot about Dali for Little Ashes. That I think shows me that Rob has a very healthy fanbase, one that will stick with him through his career. They arent fairweather fans. He's even got me tapping away on my keyboard in support and thats not my style.

I would re emphasis that his versatility and charisma is very important. He's also quite a character in real life and we need those exciting unpredictable individuals as our movie icons. Just thinking of Depp brings a smile to my face. Rob does the same for me.

Pattinson is going to be a huge movie star and should have been added to the list. I dont bother getting worked up over actors who I dont admire. They can be in huge blockbusters or the prettiest looking guys on earth but it wont wash with me. If I dont respect them as an actor they can forget it.

Rob has impressed me greatly. I first noticed him in The Haunted Airman and while the ending does confuse a lot of people I was very taken with Rob and his terrific performance. If that had been on US TV it would have got him an Emmy nomination. It was a brave performance. He strips the role right down and its amazingly subtle. You nearly feel you are watching him in slow motion. Its very effective and I've honestly not seen a performance quite like it. When you consider he was only 20 and with so few performances under his belt its downright amazing.

I'm excited about Little Ashes – moreso than Twilight but both roles will show casting directors how versatile Rob is.

Robert Pattinson has the ability on screen to get the audiences to warm to him. I'm not alone in thinking Rob can pull out a performance that really hooks in the audience and makes them care. Call it charm, call it charisma, call it brilliant acting. Whatever it is he has that gift.

Just like everyone else here, ROBERT PATTINSON IS THE NEXT BIG MALE MOVIE STAR! He's simply fantastic in everything he does. He has such screen presence, it's simply a delight to watch him. He really immerses himself in his characters. He's going to be the Next Big Thing and he's got real staying power.

Toby Jugg and Daniel Gale have been his best performances, and with Twilight, Little Ashes, and How To Be coming out, everyone is talking about this guy. He's so passionate and his great facial expressions come across on the screen as if he IS the person he's portraying. You walk away from the films feeling as if there is no other person to play his character but him. He OWNS the roles beautifully.

I think you missed a very obvious one, Robert Pattinson. If you had been paying attention you would know that Robert Pattinson is definitely deserving of being on that list. Not only does he have leading man looks, but he's very talented and diverse. He's been getting a huge amount of buzz, and Twilight hasn't even come out yet. I guess your waiting for that to come out to jump on the bandwagon with the rest of the people stuck in oblivion. It's a shame, that you didn't do your research. I'm sure the child actor is good but I dont see how he can be in a list for the NEXT Big Male Movie Star. Cera as well really doesnt have the versatility for such a title. I'd also question a few of the others too.

Pattinson really should be on that list. He has the right balance of charisma, versatility/talent, timelesness and sex appeal. I dont think any on the list have all of those qualities. Some but not all. He's quirky too which adds to his appeal.

Definately shouldn't have left Robert Pattinson out. He's poised to be the next Heath Ledger, the way he gives himself over totally to the character that he is playing just shows how dedicated and talented he is. I read the first book and that was enough for me and after seeing the trailers it looks like slightly larger budget after school special. But hey, it's got a legion of fans, that's for sure. I wish 'em the best.

Where is Robert Pattinson on this list? He obviously needed to be up there since the votes for "Other" has the majority and most of the comments are asking for him. He's taken a variety of roles in the past few years, from being Cedric in the popular Potter franchise, to Daniel Gale a secondary role in Bad Mother's Handbook, and being the leading man in Twilight. This young man definitely has a bright future and it will, without a doubt, be proven in Little Ashes. He recently won Best Actor at the Strasbourg Film Festival for his role as Art in How To Be, does that not count?

He is a truly talented actor. His roles are varied and he really takes on the "persona " of the character that he portrays. You really need to see more than just Harry Potter to see what kind of actor he is.

The panel at the Stasbourg film festival seem to have thought he was pretty good, awarding him Best Male Actor for his role in "How to Be"

You seem to have been overwhelmed with messages regarding this fact, but indeed, Robert Pattinson IS the next big movie star. He has parts in the upcoming films, "How To Be", "Little Ashes" (About Salvador Dali) as well as "Twilight".

His will be the next name Hollywood is tossing around, continually. I'm not denying that there is some very distinctive talent on the list as it stands, but Robert Pattinson will be the one to watch, and very soon the ONE to see.

He is an excellent actor, and his charm has effectively won over fan girls everywhere.

I personally consider Jackson Rathbone, also from "Twilight" as an excellent actor as well, but even my preference for Mr. Rathbone can't stop me from recognizing the talent, and mystique of Robert Pattinson.

Rob's done a bit more than just Harry Potter and Twilight. His roles in The Bad Mother's Handbook and The Haunted Airman actually display the talent he possesses. Twilight is to Rob what Titanic was to Leo. However, playing Edward Cullen won't define him.

He's already winning awards on the Indie circuit for his portrayal in How To Be, and the acclaim is just around the corner for his portrayal of Salvador Dali in Little Ashes, directed by Academy Award nominee Paul Morrison. I wouldn't be too dismissive just based on not having a taste for young adult fiction Brad…I agree with some names on your list, but the big breakout star to keep an eye on is definitely Rob Pattinson.

Shannon has said it very well – Rob Pattinson has worked on other projects that the original poll poster clearly hasnt watched. Thats the problem with these sorts of lists. If the person has only watched a narrow selection of work the list will always have an odd slant. The 12 year old child included in the list for next Big Movie Star sums it up.

Anyway I think you can guess who I think shouls have been included on the list. Mr Pattinson. Cera and the kid most certainly shouldnt on on there. I also agree that the comments on the people named comes across as rather luke warm anyway. At the end of the day Pattinson's large fanbase plus his considerable talent will ensure he will get to the very top.

Ahhh that might explain some of the love being thrown Rob Pattinson's way, but for me and some others out there, his appeal has nothing to do with playing "Edward"…I stumbled across Rob's performance in the "Bad Mother's Handbook" by accident on YouTube and loved it, and to be honest I have never seen the Harry Potter films!!!! It almost felt like a slap to the face to see Robert Pattinson absent from this list. Even though most people remember Pattinson as "the guy who died at the end of Potter 4" or as the devastatingly beautiful vampire Edward Cullen in the greatly anticipated Twilight, this young actor has exceptional talent. After playing Reese Witherspoon's son in Vanity Fair and a World War II pilot in The Haunted Airman, Pattinson has taken on greater roles such as Salvador Dali in Little Ashes and as a young, troubled man named Art in How To Be. The latter is currently playing at film festivals and is getting excellent reviews, all of which attribute Pattinson as pure talent.

Do NOT get me wrong. LOVE Lee Pace, LOVE James McAvoy and thank GOD you put James Franco on there! But I must be honest. I thought for SURE Robert Pattinson would be on the list. Have you not been reading the news? He is literally everywhere, and in my opinion as well as many others I'm sure, believe he has the most promise out of anybody.

Micheal Cera is great, but he plays the same character in every movie. As does Jake G and Shia LeBouf. Rob has been compared to a young Jack Nicholson, and in my book, a River Pheonix or a Johnny Depp. He has the look, the voice, the stare, the artist's charisma, and most importantly, the versatility of a prolific male movie star.

Thus, my request is that you add Robert Pattinson to your list, for he very much deserves it.

He is a versatile actor! He has 2 extra movies coming out! He is a very underrated actor, very subtle which is harder to portray than being all out there. Subtlety with impact is way hard and he does it well!

Some on that list are way off the mark. Pattinson should definitely be on there. His performance as Salvador Dali in Little Ashes will be a showcase to his talent.

Rob reminds me of Depp in the integrity of his choices. How to be and Little Ashes and even Parts Per Billion from what I;ve read are wonderful role choices.

Rupert Grint is the only member of the Harry Potter leading trio who will be having no less than three new movies released in 2009 – Wild Target, Cherrybomb and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. One Britcom, one Indie drama and one blockbuster – if that doesn't prove his versatility and the fact that he is in high demand, I don't know what does!
MTV has only posted a Cherrybomb-related interview with Rupert today, and it's already generating massive buzz, the response is overwhelmingly positive and people are excited about the movie and about Rupert outgrowing the Harry Potter franchise.
Wait and see, 2009 is just around the corner, and when Rupert's latest movies are released, he will be everywhere, everybody will be marveling at his talent, and those of us who were able to recognise true talent will just sit back and enjoy. :)

I whole heartedly agree that Rob Pattinson should be on this list. If not for anything else then for his role in the Haunted Airman. That movie left my jaw dropped for hours after I watched it. It was an amazing performance from such a new actor. He also shows alot of intensity in the roles he plays making him appear older than he is. At this point I think he could pull any role off. He would make a directors dream- just ask Hardwicke! Can't wait to be dazzled by his role in Twilight too!

I definetly agree with the comments above me. Robert Pattinson should've been included in this list. He is an amazingly talented actor, and musician. It's a shame that actors that maintain the same type of roles and that don't show their diversity are included here. Robert is truly an incredible and diverse actor, unlike other names shown here.

100% Robert Pattinson!!!! He definitley dazzled me with the preview of Twilight. He is the reason I even picked up the book. I think Twilight is going to be his turn around. Like I said in the other post regarding Rob. A lot of these young actors his age lack versatility. We've been fortunate with the roles he's chosen to play. He shows tremendous range. I don't think Robert is perfect, or do I worship the ground he walks on. They asked our opinion and we gave it. Just because it doesn't concede with your answer, doesn't mean were wrong. I don't get why people are getting so touchy about it. Talk about the damn poll or article or whom you think is the next leading man or whatever, this isn't about Robert or Twilight. I don't see why people can't have an opinion without having people question your motives etc. It's pointless.

And I am not a Twilighter. I'm a Rob fan first. I'm an indie film fanatic. I don't stick to the mainstream garbage. Twilight is not the film I'm most anticipating. I think Twilight is bringing him the popularity. But his other work is what's going to make him the next leading man IMO. Is he getting a big break? Major. Just like Leo in Titanic. It doesn't diminish his talent, because of it. Can Robert come to par with the buzz, only time will tell.

In my opinion I think that Robert Pattinson Should be the next big male movie star because he is so very talented and amazing! HE SHOULD BE ON THE LIST!!!!!

It's a shame that Rupert Grint isn't on this list, because he deserves to be on here! He often gets overlooked with these thing, and it's a sad day when an outstanding actor like Rupert isn't recognized!

He has done numerous movies, and not JUST the Harry Potter franchise. He has played many diverse roles, he played a geeky, boy genius in "Thunderpants" and this was right after "The Sorcerer's Stone", mind you. He also played a shy, poetic teenager in "Driving Lessons". He finished Half-Blood Prince earlier this year, and instead of taking a break til the next HP movie, he seized an opportunity to expand his acting career. He recently finished a thriller called, "Cherrybomb", in which he plays Malachy, an Irish high-school thug. Along with his best friend, Luke, they begin to compete with each other for the affections of a troubled, young vixen. Currently, he is working with the likes of Rupert Everett, Bill Nighy, and Emily Blunt on a movie called, "Wild Target." He will play Tony, an apprentice to Nighy's character, a hitman looking to retire. All three of these movies that I have mentioned are all coming out in 2009!

So, why, I ask you, is Rupert not on your list? He is obviously an excellent actor who is very versatile, if you were just to sit down and watch his movies. And not base an opinion, or an omission in this case, on something as small as he's a sidekick to Dan Radcliffe or he's just comedic relief. Rupert is much more than any of that! He loves acting, he's got natural talent, he has the drive to succeed at it, and he chooses roles that challenge him. He has been very careful to not fall into a specific niche because it's easy or just because it's being offered to him. He will be in the public eye for many years to come, I(and all of his other fans) will give a 150% guarantee on that!

So, if anyone else besides the staff here at RoS, is reading any of this. Please check out Rupert's movies, and make sure to hit the theatre(three times) in 2009 to see Rupert play three very different characters. And hopefuly, some folks at RoS will realize all of what Rupert's fans have said here, and do an interview with him and help get him more recognition. Rupert should have been on this list!

So I can understand that your all fans of his and like his work so want him/beleive he WILL be the next big star, and I will say that I have not seen either of his new movies that came out this year so I cant comment on his performance in them. RUPERT GRINT. Why?
1- the most important factor: he's talented. The most talent young male actor in the businees in my opinion, just check any of the movies he has done,the guy acts better without a word then a lot of older actors do with the best scripts! His acting is natural and believable, ant that is very unusual.
2-His handsome. Yes, it is important in this industry, but he goes even further then all those pretty boys, because his beauty is unique yet undeniable. He just looks very very good on the screen, the camera loves his face.
3-he's a good guy. Simple as that. he loves his family, who keep him grounded, he's humble, generous and very polite towards everybody.
4- He loves his fans and his fans are the most dedicate.I think that's very important for an actor to succeed, as a fandom can have a lot of power.

To respond to the JD92 – I actually think there's room for more than 1 new male star. The Damon/Depp's of this world are are not as young as they once were and I dont think Shia will have it all his own way. His current hit is really benefiting from zero competition in the cinema and he;s been lucky to have roles in blockbusters like Indiana Jones without having to really deliver a good performance. He also has more a of a boy next door look to him. Not really a leading man so I do think someone like Pattinson can step in and take some of the cream. There's room for a few at the top. I do think Pattinson is more versatile and can do blockbusters alongside worthier work (like Will Smith). But in all honesty using Smith as the one model to go by is misleading. Matt Damon is just as popular with wide appeal.

I actually think if you were going to compare Pattinson with anyone you'd say he has a Depp vibe to him. I could easily see him in a Edward Scissorhands role. I couldnt see Shia playing a role like that in a month of sundays. Twilight has given him a big fanbase and thats useful in todays precarious movie industry but a lot of his fans arent just teeny popper girls who know zero about his other roles. A lot have taken the time to search out his other work and cant wait to see his new projects. Personally I'm more excited to see him as Dali than I am Twilight. Pattinson hasnt been around as long as Shia but I do think he'll pass him by in the not to distant future and get the more interesting and long term career. I think his talent, versatility, timeless quality, sex appeal, varied fanbase, charisma, wit/comic timing, leading man looks and build and quirky personality (not forgetting his musical ability) will make him a huge film star.

i think Rupert Grint should win because i think he is gone really good job in all Harry Potter and now he also doing many other movies. He will be great actor one day. He just amazing.

Of all those actors the only one who has done theatre is Daniel Radcliffe. I think stage is where people show if they really can act. In a movie the directors, editors… they can cut and paste takes to make an actor look great and good even if they don't know learn their script, but on stage you really have prove yourself. So in my opinion Radcliffe is way ahead of all those actors, he is terrific in Equus. I've also seen some of his non Harry Potter movies and really liked them. He can do both drama and comedy, cinema, theatre and tv… he is the most versatile actor of all those.

Also re Radcliffe's theatre acting. I applaud his bravery in taking on the play. I dont however think being a good theatre actor necessarily ensures you become a long term Hollywood Movie Star. I think Daniel will never get to the very top outside of the HP umbrella but will tick along with a decent amount of work. He's not as versatile as Christian Bale and doesnt really have a leading man's physique. That lack of height will eventually have an effect on the roles he's offered. He's protected to a degree while HP films are shelled out but once they are complete the industry wont be as warm to him.

The tMF website has Pattinson as the No1 hottest young movie star and I couldnt agree more.

Well someone I think everyone should check out and watch for is Jake Sandvig.
I saw him first years ago in "The Story of Us" with Bruce Willis and Michelle Pfeiffer. Although the film was not a huge box office hit it was good and he stood out in my mind. I have kept tabs on him. I really enjoyed him in "Twenty Good Years" with John Lithgow and Jeffrey Tambor. He also did "Cracking Up" with Molly Shannon. They say comedy is harder then drama..and he has perfect timing. He has worked with some excellent actors and Directors and that speaks volumes.
I also went to Sundance and stood in line to see Justin Lin's project "Finishing the Game" and was thrilled to see Jake in a lead role…My kids loved him in "Sky High" Now these are not huge box office films and it is about a miracle to get a television show with a second season these days. But I saw his dramatic side on "Journeyman" and was blown away. I did not know that was him….very impressive. He has two films coming out Dec 08 and "Fired Up" March 09 (per IMDB) and I really look forward to watching him. He is a young Tom Hanks…..

It is October 11, 2008, and thus far Robert Pattinson has been chosen to receive two acting awards (Twilight hasn't even been released in theatres yet). Someone has not done their homework regarding Robert Pattinson. Rob did great work in The Haunted Airman, Bad Mother's Handbook, and How To Be. You really missed the mark leaving Robert Pattinson off your list.

I agree with many. You really shouldn't have left out Rob Pattinson. He's able to act, just see his previous films and he finally does the blockbuster thing with Twilight for sure. And after that he will be able to make it just with his name on the first of the credits list.

And I can't see how you dismissed Ryan Gosling. What he needs to do to prove himself to you? Haven't you heard of the Notebook? It was really up to it leads that it went so popular. Already Oscar nominated and also a list of great roles behind. If he only wants to do a blockbuster, he's totally able to pull it out.

With your list I agree with Shia and James McAvoy. Emile Hirsch as well if he ever wants to do another blockbuster. To be a new Will Smith you got to be able to be funny as well, who's up to that? My money might be on LaBeouf.

I understand why Robert Pattinson has not be included on this list.His star has just started to rise as of this year. A lot of the other people on this list have had more film credits or award notable performances before this year. Robert Pattinson will probably be on this kind of list soon. As long as he continues to work and garners more roles or acllaim there will be no questioning why he isn't on this kind of list.

In the end this is one man's list. I mean in my eyes he is also missing other actors that have made big impressions on film like Michael Pitt, Ben Foster and Paul Dano among some actors. Well in the end only time will tell who comes up as a power house.

Stumbled across this today. The Robert Pattinson uproar is hilarious. Sure, he could have been on the list, but the guy only made 1 awkard movie (Twilight) and a Harry Potter film.

If you are looking for the next Will Smith, someone with mass appeal for big hollywood pictures (action, comedy, romantic) I think your guy is Chris Evans. He has natural charm and the look/build to play an action role. I believe he has the acting chops, too. I liked his performance in Sunshine.

If you want a sleeper, I give you Henry Cavill. After seeing him in the Tudors, I believe he is one decent film role away from being a huge star (btw Twilight fans, he was Stephanie Meyers original choice for the role of Edward, but got too old by the time the film was made).

I think of those you profiled Shia LaBeouf and James Franco have the most potential. Franco is past the awkward age for casting of male leads but he may not want to lead in movies that are that mainstream. Being supporting in a blockbuster is one thing but lead, I don't know. He seems to have mostly stuck to lead, co-lead, or supporting in smaller movies. Like his next movie Howl, although it has a good cast, isn't a big production. Is that his choice or how he is being casted? I don't know, time will tell.

Shia is successfully leading movies at a very young age, something not a lot of male actors are even given the opportunity to do since movies often cast old for young. You are right though that it is hard to discern if it is the movies or him bringing the money in, but in the end it may not matter if he does it enough people believe it is him. As long as he keeps his act together (which is somewhat questionable) he can probably succeed though. BTW, I know he supposedly dropped out of Dark Fields but now production on that is on hold, are they waiting for him?

I like McAvoy a lot too but I think he'll go more along the lines of Ewan McGregor.

Of those you listed but did not profile, Zac Efron. I don't know if I could have said in September but as much as we may be loathe to admit it, he has box office potential (that musical movie did do well financially and his new movie seems to be picking up a lot of buzz) and having seen him Linklater's new film at SXSW, now I can say he can actually act. He seems to have a good work ethic and to not be falling apart at the pressure either so he may go far. He needs to get some different roles though, action flicks would help him with the male demo which right now Shia is dominating.

robert pattinson all the way of couse the rest of them are good actor but none compare to robert he is my favorite actor of all times i couldn't see edward played by a better person the producer chose the right cast for this movie so far best movie i've seen robert is the sexiest actor out there he desered all the adward he got tonight at the mtv movie adwards you made a mistake by not putting him on there

Ed Helms is a sort of a blend of Jim Carrey and Will Ferrel
Justin Bartha is sort of the next Paul Rudd
Bradley Cooper is the next Seth Rogen

Paul Walker aka Brian O'Conner from Fast and Furious comes to mind.

Some say he's the Robert Redford of our generation. Vin Diesel asumingly is the Paul Newman of our generation.

The main reason The Hangover made money was down to the following reasons
1. Todd Phillips was back doing what he did best; directing frat house comedies such as Old School.
2. When The Hangover came out there wasn't competition from Judd Apatow or Sacha Baron Cohen yet.
3. The Mike Tyson cameo.
4. Critical Acclaim: The Hangover was basically benifitting from positive word of mouth.
5. Ed Helms is brilliant in The Office: An American Workplace so fans of that might have seen The Hangover.
