The Nefertit/Evie tie-in in the second one was a little off, but I still enjoy it as a diversion. Her character was the first role that opened my eyes to her and she definitely owned it in the first film. What I remember from the second film, she had more action sequences but I felt she was still underused. It sucks that she turned this one down, because it would have made me want to watch it. I feel Maria Bello, as good an actress she is, makes the character look more tough and 'menacing' than she usually is. Scratch all that, they should have just left the first film alone and moved on.
