Who’s Jason Gonna Kill in the New ‘Friday the 13th’?

Why it's...

Jared Padalecki

Jared Padalecki is reportedly in negotiations to play the lead in the New Line/Paramount Pictures return to Crystal Lake as Jason Voorhees will terrorize more teens in a new Friday the 13th feature

Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes is producing the pic and they have brought on Marcus Nispel to direct, just as he did for the studio when they remade The Texas Chainsaw Massacre back in 2003.

The remake is considered more of a reboot since it will venture into ground the originals never actually touched. The original Friday the 13th included Jason for a very small portion of the film, but the remake will focus on the serial killer, who will wear his now-iconic hockey mask. Padalecki will play the lead, who investigates what happened up at Crystal Lake.

The film is already set for a February 13, 2009 release. There is no word on when the film is expected to go into production.
