Does it live up to expectations?

Well, here it is folks. The trailer the online masses have been waiting for and people are already calling brilliant (a trailer can be brilliant?). The trailer for Spike Jonze's Where the Wild Things Are. On top of that I have also added nine new hi-res pics from the film to our gallery right here.

You can watch the trailer in high definition at Apple.

Maurice Sendak's classic book Where the Wild Things Are comes to the big screen in an adventure tale for every generation. The film hits theaters on October 16.

Yeah, its a brilliant trailer. But not like "this film is a masterpiece" brilliant, but rather extremely deft marketing. It doesn't seem scary or anything, and looks appealing to kids. Mom & Dad will see some pedigree and will like the fact that a kids movie based on a classic book is coming out. Cinephiles will love everything else about the trailer (I'm in this group).

The technicals looks quite exquisite.

Everything about this movie seems awesome and the trailer is no different. Spike Jonze can be miles ahead of almost every other director when he wants to be and this certainly looks fantastic.

I can't wait.

I must admit, I'm very intrigued by this film. The trailer was very refreshing compared to most of the gross-out, over-the-top trailers made for kids out there. I'm sure parents will leap for joy over this film. They won't have to check their brains at the door and kids will get to watch a fascinating journey into imagination without having to laugh at fart jokes.

"Does it live up to expectations?"
It exceeds sir!
This looks like it's going to be the best movie of the year 2009.
It may be good marketing, and the film may not live up to it but for right this second consider me impressed, anxious and ecstatic

This is a good trailer, and you can count me hooked (not that I wasn't already). The pedigree is absolutely fantastic, and Warner Bros. has been very good about giving its directors room to realize their own vision.

However, Warner Bros. will need to come out with another trailer that is a bit more clear in what exactly is going on in the story. Otherwise, the uninitiated won't be interested. And this movies deserves to make bucketloads of green.

I just found on youtube a little clip of test footage from the movie. It's only a minute long and the voices are not the actors, but it does look like what is coming out. Kind of a cool little clip if anyones interested. It's titled "Where The Wild Things Are (test footage) live action movie."

I wasn't excited about this film that much (besides Spike Jonze directing) until I saw this trailer. Now I really want to see it.

@Ross: I mean no offence by this comment, but could someone please explain to me why everyone, yourself included, is so convinced that this be will an phenomenal film? I loved the book as much as the next guy and the trailer was really good; however, isn't it a bit early to crown this film as one of or "the" best films of 2009?

Help me out on this one people.
