What are Your Top 5 Most Anticipated Movies of Summer 2009?

You know you have your favorites...

Over the weekend I put together my list of potential films to add to my 2009 Summer Movie Preview and over the course of this week I hope to put the final touches on it, but before I get too far I wanted to get an idea of what exactly all of you thought about the films due out this May, June, July and August. The list you see in the poll below includes over 60 titles of which I currently intend on turning into 50 titles for the preview, but of those 50 I want to have 25 of them considered the "RopeofSilicon Most Anticipated Movies" of Summer 2009 and looking over the list I came up with my personal top 25, but I felt it would be just as, if not more, interesting to include a user generated top 25 as well.

You can look at last year's summer preview by clicking here if you want to see just how exactly it will be all sorted out, although this year I plan on adding a few additional bells and whistles to make it a little more all-encompassing. What that entails you will have to wait and find out, but for now let's begin voting.

In the poll below you can select up to five titles you are anticipating the most. If you want to preview the titles a little more closely you can find them inside the release calendar right here, but I have a pretty good idea of the 63 movies listed below there are five you will pick out without any help at all.

Are blockbusters such as Terminator Salvation, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Star Trek more your speed?

How about animated favorites such as Pixar's Up, Fox's Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs or Hayao Miyazaki's Ponyo?

Maybe comedy is more to your liking. Films such as Apatow's Funny People, Sacha Baron Cohen's Bruno or Warner's The Hangover. Then again, maybe Oscar nominated directors get your blood running such as Ang Lee's Taking Woodstock, Sam Mendes' Away We Go, Ron Howard's Angels and Demons, Steven Soderbergh's The Girlfriend Experience, Woody Allen's Whatever Works, Stephen Frears' Cheri, Michael Mann's Public Enemies or Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Bastereds. Yup Oscar nominated directors make good summer flicks too. There is a lot to choose from… choose wisely.

What are your most anticipated films of Summer 2009?

Word, thus far, I'm the only vote for O'Horten (looks damn terrific).

I have this feeling that Terminator: Salvation will annihilate the box office for this summer. Terminators + Bale = gold.

Good to see other people voting for Half-Blood Prince (can't believe that Public Enemies beat it, that looks boring). Probably the only person who voted for Battle for Terra. Same with Land of the Lost (the walnut part is hilarious). No interest in Transformers 2 or Angels & Demons. Want to see X-Men Origins Wolverine and Up, as well. Drag Me To Hell looks cool, too.

I voted for Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea (my most anticipated), 500 Days of Summer, Brüno, Whatever Works and The Brothers Bloom (saw "Brick" a couple of weeks ago, it has to be one of the most original movies of the decade).

I'm also pretty excited for Chéri.

Not really looking forward to "Wolverine" (but my best friend has a huge crush on Jackman, so i'm obligated to take her) or "Transformers" (though I really should be, since I loved the first one).

My list (not in order)
Inglourious Basterds
Star Trek
Terminator: Salvation
Harry Potter
Funny People (huge, huge Apatow fan).

Now that a good list.

Note that there is no sequel on that list. Fanboy movies suck.
Harry Potter? Star Trek? Terminator? Transformers? All just horrible. Good luck making it to the Oscars.

I just saw public enemies last night at a test screening and i crried it was so good and i didnt want to see it. My dad dragged me to it. I will go see it another 12 times. Action and Romance mixed perfectly. Even if it looks boring, you will be shocked.

Harry Potter, Funny People, Ingor. Bastards, Transfor.

Again, if you dont at least try P.E. out, you can forget having a good summer

Up (I love Pixar)
Julie & Julia (I love Amy Adams in just about any role)
Away We Go (Sam Mendes)
Angels and Demons (the first movie sucked, but I loved the book)

Also will definitely watch:
Transformers 2, Ice Age 3, Public Enemies, 500 Days of Summer, Funny People

Public Enemies (Johnny never disappoints, Marion looks amazing)
Up (go Pixar!)
Harry Potter (have enjoyed them all so far, can't stop now)
Julie & Julia (I love Meryl!)
Wolverine (ditto Hugh… what can I say?)

My kids will make me go see Transformers & Ice Age, and my oldest son is waiting for Angels and Demons. The book was interesting, not so sure about the film. No interest at all in Terminator without AH-NULD!

Damn, picking only 5 was really hard!

And a question: Is "All the Boys Love Mandy Lane" actually being released this summer, or is into going to be pushed back AGAIN? It's not on my top 5 list, but I thought the trailer looked interesting, and the reviews for it were pretty good.

It sucked only picking five. Star Trek was my first. The rest of my picks in no particular order were Inglorious Basterds, Public Enemies, District 9, and then a tough choice between Terminator, Transformers, or X:Men. I went with Terminator.

G-Force is toping my list.

Say what you want but the cast has some of my favorite comedians, Will Arnett, Steve Buscemi and Penelope Cruz (after seeing her in Vicky Cristina Barcelona, I am convinced she is one of the best females actress out there- nice touch to have her voicing one of the leads). On top of that you've got Hoyt Yeatman directing and with his reputation from earlier work like Con Air, I am really interested to see what he does with G-Force.

Beyond that
