You really need to give Royal Tenenbaums another look. I don't think Hotel Chevalier can be considered a movie it was more of a prologue to Darjeeling Limited. An intro to Jason Schwartzmans depression in the movie. Although I found that to be his worst movie, I believe its because there were too many outside influences on his writing to make it feel like his own unique style. It was nowhere near as emotionally driven as he other works. If he's writing and not directing then I think Michel Gondry would probably be the next best thing even though I though Be Kind Rewind could have been made a little more creative to fit into Gondry's style a little better.
