A Visit to the Chilean Set of 'James Bond 22'
One interesting detail catches my eye immediately

USA Today has up a set visit in Chile where they visited during the filming of Quantum of Solace and inside the second graph they refer to the film as "the first true sequel to a Bond film". Strangely enough I never really thought of it this way, but it is very true. This is the twenty-second film in the franchise and the first true sequel as this film picks up almost immediately after Casino Royale. Interesting, to me at least.
Anyway, the piece brings us the pic you see to the right and a bigger one below as well as more on the shooting in Chile, such as this:
The action sequence shot in the Chilean desert last week is a turning point for the embittered superspy, his chance to discover whether his thirst for vengeance will turn him into the same kind of cold-blooded killer as the people he is fighting.
…and if you want the plot summed up in a quote, take this bit from Daniel Craig:
"He has his heart broken," says Craig, who turned 40 during the shoot. "The love of his life is killed, and he finds out she's not who she said she was. … He's out for revenge. But he's also out to find — and this is what the title is about — a 'quantum of solace.' Something has been taken away from him, and he's out to get that back."
The article goes into great detail about the shooting and I skimmed it only briefly so as not to spoil it for myself, but it also touches on the recent uproar in Chile, where the people originally embraced the production only to get pissed when they heard their land was going to be representing neighboring Bolivia and not actually Chile. The uproar actually resulted in the detaining of Sierra Gorda's mayor, Carlos Lopez, who interrupted filming this past Tuesday.
The article is quite long and if you don't care about getting a couple of plot points spoiled I would recommend you check it out here. If you are like me and prefer a more fresh approach the info in this article should suffice.
Quantum of Solace has shot in Panama, Baja California, Mexico, Chile and will end at London's famed Pinewood Studios before going into post and ultimately released in theaters on November 7. For more info on the film click here.
