Verhoeven to Tame the 'Beast'

Instinct helmer goes for war.

Paul Verhoeven the man behind such films as Basic Instinct and Showgirls has his next project and somehow there doesn't seem to be a ton of ways he can get a lot of nudity into it as he wants to tackle Beast of Bataan, a bigscreen adaptation that follows the war crimes trial of Lt. Gen. Masaharu Homma at the end of WWII.

The picture is an adaptation of the book "A Trial of Generals," by Lawrence Taylor and Variety goes on to say that Homma was the Japanese officer in charge of the Bataan death march endured by American and Filipino prisoners of war in 1942 in the Philippines.

The film is scheduled to start lensing this winter.
