The Ultimate ‘Star Wars’ Trailer

If only the prequels had been this long, err... short

I am a big fan of the Star Wars universe, but I remain baffled at how impossible it is to revisit the prequel films. Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones are virtually unwatchable and Revenge of the Sith is tolerable only on the smallest of levels. However, it is impossible to deny that all three prequel films had some cool shit:

  • Darth Maul
  • Clone Troopers
  • Natalie Portman in that torn tight shirt

However, there were a lot of bad things as well:

  • Jar Jar Binks
  • Young Anakin
  • Teen Anakin
  • George Lucas written dialogue
  • Hayden Christensen
  • Yoda bouncing all over
  • The ridiculous Star Wars jargon (padawan for starters)

This is just me of course. I am sure die-hard Star Wars fans love it, but one of the things that bothers me more than anything is the following clip from the very beginning of Revenge of the Sith. Notice how the view of the planet shows absolutely no battle, nothing is going on. Then, miraculously, there are millions of lasers and ships and blah, blah… I mean, this is just the beginning:

Now that’s picking the nits, but it has always bothered me and it is now off my chest. Away with it I say, let’s get to the headline…

Spike is getting ready to show all six Star Wars films six nights in a row and they have put together what they call the “Ultimate Star Wars Trailer”. I actually agree. They have clips from all six films in there and when presented like this you actually want to watch the prequels. I think it would be better to watch this trailer, remember what you want from Eps I-III and head straight for A New Hope and enjoy. Either way, if you want to catch the movies on Spike because you are one of the last remaining Star Wars fans that doesn’t own all six (I even own all six) then get ready, April 4th at 8PM is your day. For now, check out the trailer.

And then… There’s always this…

Like? No. Love? Yes. Insanity? Perhaps.
