Ugh, More Johnny Depp Casting Rumors

This time it's 'Three Stooges' and it comes form the source of sources

Johnny Depp is the Riddler! Johnny Depp is the Mad Hatter! Johnny Depp in INXS biopic! Johnny Depp is Tonto! Johnny Depp is a vampire in Dark Shadows! Johnny Depp is Dillinger! Johnny Depp is Moe in Three Stooges!

It doesn't end. Whether it is a bonafide story or a ridiculous rumor there is some strange fanboy love for Johnny Depp that begins to wear on rational thinking people and strangely enough, the same people that are goo-goo for Depp are the same people that would quickly insult people for loving Twilight all while they blow loads all over The Dark Knight. It's intolerable.

The latest news needed to be mopped off the floor comes as rumors fly out of "In Touch" magazine of all places, which is "reporting" news that Johnny Depp and Sean Penn are being sought to star as Moe and Larry in an upcoming Three Stooges film for the Farrelly brothers.

As always the reaction is filled with exclamation points and love for Depp with question marks surrounding Penn's name for whatever reason as people forget Penn is one of our greatest actors working right now and made a pretty good impression on folks playing a bumbling fool in the early '80s.

Quite frankly, every time a story related to Depp appears online now I begin to shrug my shoulders in despair. Whether it's true or not the novelty has worn off. At least in terms of these corny half-assed flicks such as the idea behind this Three Stooges film as well as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and I am not too keen on this upcoming Alice in Wonderland film from Tim Burton either, but the fact Depp simply plays the Mad Hatter and won't be gobbling up every scene we'll have to see how the rest of it plays out.

Depp's films used to feel special, sort of how the prospect of Public Enemies feels. It's a new turn for Depp as he works with Michael Mann for the first time. Pirates of the Caribbean was a great role that certainly began to wear thin by the end, but I still enjoy the character. However, films like Ed Wood, Edward Scissorhands and for me personally Blow will sum up what Depp used to be before a gaggling group of online fanboys fawned over everything he did, does and will ever do.

Of course there are exceptions to every statement so if you are a die-hard Johnny Depp fan understand I am not bashing the man I am simply making an observation and for what it's worth I have a feeling Robert Downey Jr. may become the next actor to join Depp in the ranks of the Fanboy Favs along with David Fincher, Pixar, Seven, Quentin Tarantino and Fight Club. We'll have to wait and see.

alright. so i am actually not believing this that much. i don't know why they would make a three stooges remake but who knows?! i personally, love johnny depp. but, i don't know if this is just a false rumor. i'm very spectacle of this rumor. i'm excited for all his other movies coming up: dr. parnassus, alice in wonderland, public enemies, etc. i love johnny depp as an actor. he is just the best. but, we will have to wait and see for this rumor.

I agree entirely. The fanboys, and fangirls more so, are not helping Depp at all. They're slowly cheapening his credibility by going to his films just to watch him and nothing else. It gives people the false impression that he's just a pretty boy all over again, which is what he's been fighting against his whole career, and I wish the crazy fans would just take a step back and calm the F down.

Yeargh, I love the internet. Pixar isn't terrible, they just happen to have the steadiest track record.

I certainly have to disagree with post #6 JD certainly isn't in everything. He hasn't had a movie since 2007 and he is never in the news so the media have to pick whatever little tidbit they can find to print about him. It is comical how they come up with these roles for him. The fans know if Johnny is in a film it will be good.

I don't think JD is in everything and I am definitely excited about Public Enemies but to be fair I look forward to all Johnny Depp films. Just for the record, this is NOT because I am a 'fangirl' I have liked Johnny Depp long before I even considered boys in anyway a factor in my thought process. I've watched his films from I was 8 (admittedly, not an entirely suitable age given most of his films) and he always pulls off an amazing performance no matter what. It annoys me to no extent that because he did some films that he said himself were for his children to watch people consider him a sellout or when people jump on the bandwagon without even seeing most of his other films despite the amazing performances he can do. And it annoys me even more that he then gets a bashing from other film 'critics' saying he's overrated, which is always bound to happen when someone reaches his level of success, no doubt Meryl Streep will get abuse soon for 'selling out' for doing Mamma Mia, I mean it did well so it must deserve it…
I'm not saying this article does abuse him, I'm just saying I'm tired of these chain of events from these 'critics'. And I also think Robert Downey Jr will be the next one, his films are doing too well now, he'll need taken down a peg probably…

Wow, Johnny Depp,The Dark Knight, Pixar, Seven, Quentin Tarantino and Fight Club are all great. And once you include Seven and Fight Club do you really need to mention David Fincher? I'm not going to lie about being a a superhero-loving, nerdy fanboy, but I can agree with you on matters such as Woody Allen's excellent Vicky Christina Barcelona, which I believe you named the best film of the year, so why are you picking on all these great things which are not only fanboy fixations but cultural fixations in general. I am not impressed by this. Didn't you say you liked The Dark Knight? These "fanboy" obsessions are important to people who don't drool over comic books as well. Yeah, people obsess over casting rumors; it can be fun, and it can be grating. It's just part of the entertainment industry, calm down. And by the way, Charlie and the Chocolate factory was great, and you know as well as I do that Depp is playing Dillinger.

@1989: You seem to be proving my point all while ignoring plenty of what I had to say and most notably the opening words in the last paragraph you are quoting: "Of course there are exceptions to every statement…"
