UFOs, Ice on Mars, Tiger Done and Blog Tips

Oh, and Iron Man hit $300 milly

First off, I posted my first two blog posts in over a month over on my blog. Talk about a day for rejoicing! Now, let's get to the week that was...

Tiger Woods is done playing golf for 2008. Trust me, this hurts me deeply. The Boston Celtics are the NBA champs. Trust me, I couldn't care less.

And the biggest news in sports this week... Drum roll please...

Wayne Ellington, Danny Green and Ty Lawson are all returning to the North Carolina Tar Heels for the 2008-09 season joining Tyler Hansbrough and have got to be the obvious frontrunners to win the whole damn thing in 2009!

What? You don't care? Well, you should... because I care.

Well, do you care that the Mars Lander may have found ice on Mars? Speaking of outer space apparently there is some new UFO sighting.

Maybe space isn't your thing, how about an Ohio teacher who burned the cross on one of his kids' arms. That's nice right?

As much as I like Obama I am starting to get a John Kerry vibe here as it seems the Dems think they have this thing in the bag. Obama's healthcare plan is not all that great even if it is better than McCain's virtual coupon plan and Obama can't seem to ever talk about the issues as he is constantly apologizing for stupid shit. If it isn't his pastor, interim pastors or now his campaign as two Muslim women were asked not to sit where they could be photographed behind him because they were wearing traditional religious head coverings. Nice work. Oh, he gave them a personal phone call? Who cares? What kind of idiot move is this?

In the world of movies and things I didn't cover on the site I came across this interesting post from John Campea at The Movie Blog offering up "20 Tips For Starting Your Own Movie Blog". There is only one item on there I want anyone to focus on, and that's #13 "WRITE ORIGINAL CONTENT". This should be the motto for every movie blog in the world that decides they are going to sprout up and just regurgitate Variety and Hollywood Reporter articles and then call themselves journalists. John's list is pretty good and you should give it a look if you are at all interested. Just remember, BE ORIGINAL! Even if that means you get fewer readers.

Nikki Finke breaks down why it will be hard to get a "Grand Theft Auto" film off the ground. Heaven forbid you write an original story and call it something like Immigrant Raises Hell in the US. Thomas Jane is pushing to be cast as Jonah Hex (it's a comic book character, don't worry, I didn't know either).

Iron Man is the first film of 2008 to hit the $300 million mark. The Daily Mail claims Christian Bale will play Robin Hood in Ridley Scott's Nottingham.

And finally we have this new trailer from WALL•E:
